We had the good fortune of connecting with Dijon Bowden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dijon, what do you attribute your success to?
Everything starts with my relationship with Self. Connecting with my inner voice through meditation and stillness is the foundation of my life.

I’ve been a daily Vedic meditator for the last 4 years and the name Dharma Glow actually came to me after coming out of a meditation.

We all have a purpose and a way of being that will bring the most personal and collective happiness and evolution and we are guided to that highest path from the voice within of Spirit.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel art is first and foremost a personal communication from Spirit to your individual soul. I have learned so much about the things I was going through in life by expressing myself creatively as a way of processing the experience.

The best art is so personal that it becomes universal. I think of Ex-Factor by Lauryn Hill. It’s such an intimate song and you can hear in the way she sings that she’s moving through the emotions in real-time, but it’s also so relateable and because she is vulnerable in that way everyone can see themselves in it.

I made an album called Dijon’s Dimension as part of the musical project Indigo Keys and it was a time in my life when I was healing my inner child so that work has a special place in my life.

And my poetry series, From Infinity To Infinity, began with me working through deep depression during the darkest time in my life.

I became more committed to my daily spiritual practice as a way to self-regulate, and at the end of my practice, I would write poems to process whatever I was feeling that day.

Some of the poems were dense and heavy, and others were profound and insightful. It felt like I was able to be a channel for my higher self and share the wisdom I needed to hear at the moment.

Just like Lauryn Hill’s song, the art is very personal, but there are also nuggets in there for anyone who may be going through the same thing.

Dharma Glow was inspired by Londrelle’s brand Eternal Sunshine, after seeing him perform live. It was a transformative experience and I knew I wanted to create something in the same spirit for the community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to Ponce City Market and West Side Provisions. There is so much culture and vibrancy in those places. They both have a good blend of different Atlanta energies.

Piedmont Park is also a must, we might hit up the Botanical Garden, and if there were here on a Saturday, they could join the rest of the Dharma Glow community for Silent Disco Yoga at noon.

And for somewhere off the beaten path, Wai’s Gong Fu Tea House. I love Chinese-style tea ceremonies. It’s a very unique experience that allows people to access a deep level of presence.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Londrelle Love and my mother, Lisa Borders. Londrelle created the blueprint that I draw a lot of inspiration from in the way he creates music, poetry, and live events with the intention to be a vessel for healing.

And my mother has always been my biggest supporter. She leads by example and to this day continues to evolve and move towards her highest timeline.
