We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Acosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Born and raise part of my life in Mexico I had countless interactions with a carrito paletero (popsicle cart) at any kind of event. I have two summer kids and I always celebrate their birthdays ,but is too hot. I try to find someone with a Popsicle cart to cater at my events, but not only that. I wanted the traditional Mexican flavors. I could not find anyone in the state of Georgia. So it gave me the idea for me to have it for my own parties and share a bit of my culture to other events.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am first generation attending a college and receiving a associate degree in early childhood education. I became a mother a year later and decided that what is most important to me is to care for my son. With the support of my husband I became a stay at home mom. I tried to eventually do a 9-5 job ,but I loosing precious time with my child was not making me happy. Having the Popsicle cart doesn’t take precious time away from my family. Although being a entrepreneur is was not on my books. Having the education I had I apply it on daily basis with my children. Not everything you want to do in life is the first choice. It’s okay to change until you find something that makes you happy on both profesional and personal life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A place that I don’t get tired of going is Georgia Aquarium. I will also take them to hike at Stone Mountain. I love hosting my love ones making authentic Mexican food such as carne asada, guacamole and some drinks is my best way to entertain my family and friends. another place that I will take them if the come around this time of year it will be Washington farms they have many activities for all ages.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am fortunate to have a family that supports me on everything. If I have to pick one it will be my husband of 9 years Marcos Acosta. He has been the one who taught me how to take the cart from point A to B. He is the one that is always there to help me out on anything I need.
