We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamonique Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamonique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!.. I have always been an individual who loves to be set apart, I never like to “fit in”. That alone is what fashion is about. When it comes to clothes, Contour’D Glamour is the business for you! Here we strive to take fashion as a expression of style whenever you dress. The vision behind my business is to educate, motivate, and encourage people to wear their clothes and not let their clothes wear them. With Contour’D Glamour I am not here to give you fashion, I am here to reshape and revision your style. Because with Contour’D when we style you the WORLD takes notes!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
If it were easy it would be for everyone, to say the least I will say resilience is key. Just like a grocery store there are many different brands of bread, snacks, and juices but we all have our preference. Starting this business has been a very humbling experience because I am not the only stylist, there are many before me and there will be many after me. I focus on my now! Each client that comes my way I give them my all each time. I have had the opportunity to be apart of 3 fashion shows and they have all been amazing and helped me gain clientele. I would like for the world to know you don’t always have to step out of your comfort zone to be comfortable in the skin you’re in.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh Wow!! Well this is exciting, here is just a few things that would be on my to-do list. First, we would have to catch brunch at the Toast, Escobar,Fin and Feathers, Fade and Facet, then of course we would have to hit some of the thrift stores in ATL ( my fave is Value Village), we would have to hit the selfie museum, Illuminarian in Atlanta or trap museum, and what is a trip without nightlife?? We would end our night at Garden Room, VVS, Fin and Feathers, Cirque Daiquiri Bar or Cru. I could go on and on but here is what a typical day would look like for me. I also enjoy alot of the parks, factories, and concerts that Atlanta has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely! My mother, I say this because this is who I get my creative and exquisite style from. Looking back to when I was younger on the photos that she has hanging in the house, my mom has always had our entire family dressed to the “T”! Now that I am adult with a child of my own, she tells me how much I remind her of herself when she was my age. I ask my mom for advice anytime I am styling someone because not only is she my toughest critic, but she is my biggest supporter.
