We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamond Sonnier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diamond, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business as a way to share my passions with the world by bringing fresh, custom designs to life’s most precious moments. Ever been to a store looking for a gift for friends or family and it just seems like nothing is perfect enough for what you are looking to express? That is where Created Resilient will step in and design a custom piece to ensure the most unique gift that can’t be found anywhere else. My business is my passion however, seeing customers get excited is what really makes it worthwhile.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career is completely separate of my entrepreneurial interests. I currently work in Supply Chain for Electrolux. My background is in Mathematics and Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Upon graduating from college like most others I struggled to find a career to jump into. While searching for work i bartended as well as planning small gatherings and selling custom shirts, signs and more. My drive and sheer dedication to any thing that I am working on is what sets me apart. Each client receives the utmost attention to detail and quality execution. This is the same for my every day career as an analytical employee. COVID was a huge challenge for the event industry however, the ability to pivot is key and I immediately began producing custom masks individually or in bulk for those who still wished to host in person events. Drive by parties also began to pop up and was a service that I added for my clients to still be able to celebrate life’s most precious moments. There are many lessons that I have learned however, the biggest lesson was to JUST START. Start when it seems difficult, start even if it is not all together, start with what you have! I am most proud of the progress that has been made in my short year of entrepreneurship.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite places in Charlotte include the Carrigan Farms Quarry for a summer swim, Stats Restaurant has the BEST brunch in town and 1501 S Mint provides a smooth environment to just hang with friends and have a great time. There are a lot of great parks for picnics here in the area as well as a variety of places for fun such as top golf and escape rooms. One thing that Charlotte is not short of is Brewers and the beer tours can truly blow your mind.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my family and my closest friends who push me everyday to continue to put myself out there. They encourage me to believe in myself and remind me that everyone starts somewhere.
