We had the good fortune of connecting with Diallo Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diallo, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor is consistency! As an actor I consider myself as my brand. In this field many people give in the longer they go without success, but little do they know their success will come at an unknowing time. I did well over 100 auditions before I finally booked! The more consistent you can be the higher your chances are at making it where you want to be.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an professional actor of 10+ years. I started because when I was a child my older sister Jamila auditioned for an episode of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and booked it! That inspired me and made me believe it was possible, so after years of acting classes, plays, and shooting my own homemade films I was able to book MY first big role. Babershop: The Next Cut was my first film in which I played the role of a boy named Kenny who was Rashad’s son (Played by Common). Ever since, I’ve done many other Film and Television shows alike. In 2020 I starred in the film “Freshman Year” on Netflix. I also love music and I rap and produce. I learned to never give up on my dreams, because without them I have no purpose. My goal is to become an A-list Actor like my idols Denzel Washington and Will Smith.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Ponce City Market first. It is a great way to see the city and the rooftop has rides and cool places to take pictures. I would also take them to Atlantic Station to walk around and maybe catch a movie. For night life Atlanta has too many clubs and lounges to count, and if it were my thing we could go and party basically any night of the week (but I won’t). Six flags is another fun place to go as well as Stone Mountain if they want some excitement. If they want a taste of black Hollywood we can at least drive by Tyler Perry studios and/or Marvel Studios, maybe if were lucky we’ll get a tour!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Dad decided to believe in me when I told him I wanted to act, so much so that he started managing me since I was a kid. Thanks to him I was able to carve a career for myself. Shoutout to him!
