We had the good fortune of connecting with Di Wang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Di, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art and creativity allow one to discover and feel the beauty of life. At the same time, constantly creating something creative allows me to explore and try new ways of doing things myself. Art also allows people to feel relaxed, to get away from the stresses of life and to immerse themselves in their own world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At first I focused on illustration. However, through my studies at SCAD, I was exposed to information from different majors, especially motion media design. The combination of static illustration and dynamic motion media design has allowed me to improve my artistic skills and make my work richer and more dynamic. I am very happy to have met my friends who have encouraged me. Although I encounter a lot of difficulties in the creative process, such as how to make static illustrations move, I am able to solve them by figuring out the software and finding help. It is always my goal to overcome difficulties and explore new areas.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I now live in Savannah, Georgia, which is a charming Southern escape where art, period architecture, trendy boutiques and haunted stories are all set under a veil of Spanish moss. There are beautiful landscapes and buildings, and you can check out the 22 squares in Downtown, especially Chippewa Square which is the setting for Forrest Gump, and Forsyth Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am very lucky to meet my classmates and professors during my SCAD studies. They have given me a lot of help and encouragement. My professors have been very patient in guiding me on how to create better art and my classmates have been very enthusiastic in giving me lots of advice and encouragement.
