We had the good fortune of connecting with Deyonte’ Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deyonte’, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Good question. But if I had to pick 3 habits that have helped me succeed, I would say the first is to be intentional about each day. Each day you should set some goals of getting better at something that you are weak at no matter what it is (i.e. reading, storytelling, improving your creative process, etc..). The second is organization, being organized can catapult your productivity in many ways. Having an organized schedule, workspace, and a project management tool will help you move through the day seamlessly. The third is to create a set amount of time for exercise and/or meditation for you each day. Our day to day lives can be stressful, having a set time each day to recharge and detach is important.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve created a business around my unique set of skills in strategic brand partnerships, business development, project management and marketing. I connect artists, cultural influencers and brands together creating authentic cross promotional opportunities that resonate with their target audience on the highest level, which is always beneficial for all parties involved. What sets me apart from other professionals in this space is that I am a product of the culture, I truly understand it, and can relate to clients on a personal level not just from a business perspective. Noticing the lack of Diversity and Inclusion in the corporate world mainly in branding decisions being made by companies like Disney, Spotify, Netflix, and Califia Farms. My business partner and I began to make connections in the industry one thing led to another and our rolodex continued to grow, morphing us into a consulting and creative agency [NoCure]. Also getting an opportunity to be apart of heading ideation and select the apparel designers for Disney’s Pixar movie Soul. I am also confidentially working with a former all NBA player to produce original content, develop brand positioning, and market content to major distribution channels. Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way so far is that you are your biggest competition, be nimble because you must be able to shift quickly if your positioning is not effective, learn learn learn and iterate what you’ve learned as much as possible so your skills can improve, and lastly build lasting relationships that will live outside of business meetings, always do good business. I’ve been able to overcome obstacles in this industry by being able to pivot and recognize when things aren’t aligned. What I want the world to know about my business and I is that we believe in customer experience and that we help you build cultural currency with multicultural communities. We are at the intersection of culture, creative, branding, and strategy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends visiting I would take them to try food at Tao in Hollywood or Firefly in Studio City, they both have great food and a really dope aesthetic. Hmmmm for drinks we would probably go to Perch in downtown LA. They make the best “side cars” in my opinion lol. During the week we would definitely hit the beach. You can’t come to California and not go to the beach. And on one of those days we would go to the Soho House to hang out, maybe get more food, catch up, listen to some great music, and meet new people, nothing too crazy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes of course, I would have to say I am nothing without my mom first and foremost. She made so many sacrifices for me to be where I am now in life and I’m forever grateful for that. Next, I want to shout out my family and close circle of friends, the comradery we share together is truly incomparable. I’m grateful for the love of my family. My circle keeps me motivated, inspired and I’m always learning something new with them.
