We had the good fortune of connecting with Dev Rajkumar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dev, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I know I had a passion for filmmaking that I wanted to share with the world. I wanted to write, direct, edit and shoot videos for others. Once I practiced helping out and shadowing friend’s first about a year, I decided it was time to start my own business. That is what motivated me to start my business, Lutrotes Studios.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started Filmmaking almost 7 years ago. It was not easy at first, I was learning to direct, produce and shoot short films by borrowing friends equipments for a few years. I kept learning and being dedicated to the craft. I like to keep growing and learning new things whether it is in writing, producing, directing, shooting or editing. It wasn’t easy to get to where I’m at today. But keeping on practicing my craft, failing forward and looking at every project as a building block has helped me to improve upon my craft. Those things help me to overcome the hurdles I faced. I couldn’t have done this on my own as I needed a great team with me. If you’re passionate about something, keep working at it and follow your dreams. You have to believe in yourself at all times. Leave no room for doubt. Through my work, I want to inspire others to also follow their dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Atlanta for a week, I would take them to the City (mainly Buckhead), the Battery Atlanta and Alpharetta, specially the Avalon and Halcyon. For food and drinks, I would take them to the Buckhead area and check out Big Sky Buckhead. The Avalon in Alpharetta has a number of great food spots. Also at the Battery, Punch Bowl Social. In addition to food, Punch Bowl is great for playing fun games with your friends. The Battery has other fun activities such as Escape Rooms, catching a Braves game, going to a great concert and meeting people at Love at the Battery.. In the City, I would definitely take them to Piedmont Park and Jackson Street Bridge. I love to hike, but I prefer going to the Mountains instead of staying locally. So I would take them to explore Helen and Dahlonega.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to my friends Jamar Rivers, Aaron Riddle, Jamhar Dixon and Juliana Beirac for supporting me throughout the years and motivating me to go deeper in my business and follow my dreams.
