We had the good fortune of connecting with Deuce Benson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deuce, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have been into fashion since I was a kid. My mother preached coordination and looking your best every time you step outside. As I grew older I explored more into the technical aspects of fashion and decided I wanted to start my own brand. I also became very intrigued with learning graphic design and once I taught myself and got better I knew having a brand was meant. This skill allows me to have 100% creative control and flexibility. The pandemic led to me becoming more serious and take a leap of faith with getting all the legal things officiated and start selling. Of course like anything its been a rocky experience but I have completely enjoyed it and learning a lot along the way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart is the message my art conveys and the kind of work put in behind the scenes. I’m always trying to figure out ways to better my art/business on my own so research is a big part of what I do and how I’ll become more and more successful as time goes on.

I want the world to know that the journey of becoming a creative or business person isn’t going to be easy but with dedication, passion and persistence, you can go a long way with your work. And this is exactly how I operate and handle my art/business. Along with how my brand, THOUGHT FACTORY, encourages us all to be honest with our positive and negative thoughts/emotions to create great change in our individual lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend out to eat at the best local spots you can’t get anywhere else. Taking them to an adult arcade, museum, basketball events, the movies and do some shopping. I’d also take them downtown to have late night drives and have personal photoshoots there and around other intriguing places in the city. Other than that, we’d just enjoy each other’s company in the house watching tv, cooking home-cooked meals and take naps lol.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my supportive family, especially my mom! She is someone I go to about a lot of my ideas and she always gives it to me straight. All my other close family members and friends have been super supportive buying my products and spreading the word as well!
