We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiny, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I hear the word risk, I use to think of something negative and was afraid of the unknown. Taking risks during my career, is showing me that things will only have the power you will allow it to have. If I think about risks being negative that’s all it will be. Risks are playing a very big part in my life right now due to me changing the doubts and negativity into positive factors. I’ve taken many risk during my career. Due to that leap of faith I am where I am today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was 16 years young when my mother asked what I desired to be in life. I told my mom I am going to be an actress. My mom took me to a Disney audition in Maryland. I stuttered so hard because I was overthinking and got nervous I was told next by a producer. During that time I blamed everyone but myself. I graduated high school and began taking classes for tv & film. During my semester I decided to take a class in nursing to support my living. I kept my focus on nursing due to others telling me tv & film wouldn’t pay my bills and I wouldn’t make it. One day I saw an audition flyer and decided to go. When I went to Hollywood for the audition I was told no. Hearing no can be hard sometimes. I didn’t allow hearing no stop me. I was then offered many opportunities due to producers seeing my ambition. I used the money I was making from nursing to support my tv & film goals. Achieving my goals aren’t easy, but in order to make someone believe i’m worth their investment I have to invest in myself. I over come many challenges by looking back at the 5 years that past and seeing that I’m on the right path. I’ve worked retail, fast food, nursing, and more. I created my own show to help others see that there is no blue print just get up and do it. Thanks to Emani Brown (executive producer) and Roslyn Brown (executive producer) I was able to bring Coming Up In Reality Tv to life. The cast members consist of Angelica McAphee (Pumpkin) 26 from Baltimore,MD, Christopher Escobales (Cee$Moneyy) 25 from Allentown Pa, Isaac George(PrettyG) 21 from Providence Rhode Island, Rodney Edwards(Prince da chef) 25 from Atlanta,GA, Salina Lister (MoonBae) 28 from Allentown,PA, and Brianna Daeshawn (Foreign Mamba) 25 from Bronx, NY.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to thank God , my mother , friends, supporters and family. I appreciate the Fun House show due to Bunny allowing me to be a cast member and make my mark, “The 50th Law ” by Curtis Jackson and Robert Greene has shaped my mindset in ways I wouldn’t have allowed it to before. Practicing yoga at the Hot Yoga Hut has helped me gain a balance of inner peace to be able to still strive in everyday life. With that being said the things and individuals that I came across I make sure to apply to my life whatever sounds logical. Therefore, things that I am taught I make sure I teach to others.
