We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Diggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Destiny, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started YoungBlackSuccessful, LLC. in 2016, as a sophomore in college while studying Broadcasting, at Long Island University in Brookville, New York. I knew that I could anticipate a promising career in radio and television because of the connections that I made and because of the people that my father, Gary Diggs, international musician and music producer connected me with in the music industry. In my early years in college, I was well into my career but had a desire to help my peers and push other young people to their purpose and destiny. YoungBlackSuccessful,LLC., also known as my assignment helped me do that.
What should our readers know about your business?

I am excited because The Young Black Successful Podcast was recently launched on Friday, May 26th, 2023 and is available everywhere! My love for business, my brand, and journalism has collided and I couldn’t be happier to share the story behind the success of artists, entrepreneurs, influencers, and world changers.
I’m proud that after almost seven years the Young Black Successful Brand is still evolving. When I started YoungBlackSuccessful in college I knew nothing about business but I surrounded myself with successful entrepreneurs and remained humble, teachable, and consistent. The Young Black Successful Brand is just getting started!
It’s difficult maintaining businesses and a full time career in media. But I’m learning that balance doesn’t exist and that it’s important to focus on the task at hand and be present everyday. I thought I had to choose my business or my career in broadcasting because they both require a lot of time and energy. But I quickly learned that I didn’t have to choose one or the other and I didn’t choose YoungBlackSuccessful,LLC. it choose me and it is my assignment to help people become the best versions of themselves. This assignment is is not only evident in my mentoring program but in everything I do- my radio shows, my podcast, and my nonprofit. Pushing people to their destiny is my purpose and I’m grateful that God chose me for such a time as this.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my growth, my evolution, and my success to my mother and father. Before I was born, the doctor told my parents that if they moved forward with the pregnancy that I would be deformed and have learning disabilities. However, by the grace of God that is not my testimony and my name is Destiny because my parents knew that I would be Young, Black, and Successful in spite of what the doctors and specialists said. I am fully persuaded that, “All things work together for the good of those that love the Lord” (Romans 8:28) and although a bad doctors report is a part of my story I am able to empower others because of the opposition that was set against me since the womb. Shoutout to my mother and father for standing on the promises of God and for knowing I had destiny before I even knew it.
