We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desiree, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Being a risk taker is very scary, and I don’t recommend it to anyone who is looking to play it safe with their life or their business. I’ve had opportunities given to me and taken away because of the risks I’ve taken throughout the course of my life and my business. To be honest, it’s my faith, and the purpose I have in my business, Promo-Jones that has pushed me to double down when literally everyone is calling me crazy. One thing I know for sure, is that when I take a chance on me and my business, most times it works out in the favor of the business but the repercussions of the risk effect my personal life differently.

For example, after graduating college, and applying to countless jobs, I took the risk of taking an UNPAID internship for a role I was overqualified in. While there, someone told me to apply for the NextGen ColorComm Fellowship so I applied. Not even a week later I got fired because I was told I wasn’t a good fit. So I was twice as broke and gave them work that they still use to this day, but I got into the ColorComm fellowship. Fast forward 3 years later, my business is now working with the founder of ColorComm.

In my case, if you know your purpose, and move with intention, the risk is worth the reward.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Promo-Jones is a video content bureau specializing in promoting the vision of visionaries through video content curation. The journey to where I am today took a lot of sacrifice and risk. It was not easy at all. I’ve accepted that I would rather bet on myself than wait for the validation of others to do what I’ve been called to do. My purpose is greater so I’m sticking with it til the very end. One of the greatest obstacles I had to face were all in my head. I had to get out of my own way and be my biggest support system.

Self love and how you see yourself first is extremely important in entrepreneurship. Who you are will be reflected in every aspect of your business. Promo-Jones is a company that promotes the vision of visionaries. You have to be a visionary to work with visionaries. Have the confidence in yourself to believe that, and sooner or later you’ll be right where you’re meant to be.
Promo-Jones is here to cheer on visionaries every step of the way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out my mentor Jada Davis for being a prominent role model in business for me. Monique Wingard for also being a major supporter and business friend. My family, God’s Plan (IYKYK), Dr. Miles Monroe and Jim Rohn two great leaders RIP to them both. Two of Napoleon Hill’s books- The Power of Positive Thinking and Think and Grow Rich.

I’d also like to thank Michael Todd, Sarah Jakes, and Joyce Meyers for being my spiritual guides on this journey as well.
