We had the good fortune of connecting with Desi Giles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desi, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I come from a family of entertainers. My grandfather was Johnny St.Cyr, who played the banjo with Louis Armstrong. According to my father, he traveled alot and wasn’t there for him. My dad was an actor, as well as an educator. According to my older brother, our dad moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career… not TELLING nor having a desire to TAKE his family with him!?! So as I embarked on MY performing career, I was determined NEVER to neglect my family in my career pursuits! So I never took jobs that were far away or traveled. I purposed in my heart to ALWAYS be there for my children, and my wife. So it hasn’t been until my children were grown, independent and living their own lives that I decided to pursue acting as hard as possible!
I am married to a very supportive wife, who is an educator and supports my career dreams 100%!! I’m even blessed to take her along with me on some acting gigs when her schedule affords it, since she too has a background in the performing arts!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Life can be…unfair. But hey, that’s why they call it…LIFE. I have always been about…excelling. I am comprised of: 1. Born again Christian
2. Retired USAF veteran and,
3. A proud, non-ignorant African American
I employ characteristics from these three aspects of my life to formulate my professional self:
I believe that, “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!” I work hard, and try to outwork my contemporaries.
Dez don’t do late! I DO NOT run on CFT! I try to be thorough, and help others along the way. I don’t lie or steal. I’m dedicated to my employer and tend to fall into a “company man” mentality as it pertains to my loyalty.
The irony is, I could share many stories as to somehow, things did NOT work out for the best in a very mysterious way?? These would have to be shared verbally!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooo good question! I’ll use my older step brother Michael for an example! He lives in Troy, NY, has never been on a plane, nor has he seen much outside of NY/NJ. I want him to come visit so that I can do just what you’re asking me here so… Mike and his girlfriend Terry arrives:I take them to some of my favorite dining spots! SixFeet Under, Pappadeaux’s, perhaps Poor Calvin’s, Juicy Crab, and if my money is right, the Sundial(if it’s rotating!?!). I’d take them to the Aquarium, historical site, Savannah, Tybee Island, and the Crab Shack while down there! Forsyth Park. I’d show them Tyler Perry Studios, and other movie studios in the area, downtown Atlanta, CNN, Coke, etc. We might go ziplining in Banning Mills, or perhaps indoor skydiving at IFly in Cobb county!?! Long story short…I’d wear them out!! I showed my wife Vegas in a weekend. I showed her San Diego in a day. And I showed her Malibu, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, some of LA, Hermosa Beach, and a touch of Carson, California in one day as well!!
Thanks be unto the USAF and worldwide deployments, I’ve learned how to travel and see as much as possible in a minimal amount of time. In fact, I gave myself a self guided tour of London, England….in one day!! Ask me what I saw in one day!?!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For me, ALL of the credit goes to God, who always has been, and always will be my Agent! He blessed me with the talent in the first place. He put me in place for certain roles, and kept me away from others! I am truly blessed to be patient and about His business as I pursue a calling that I pray is within His will for my life!
