We had the good fortune of connecting with Des Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Des, what inspires you?
What really inspires me is my spirituality. Meditation is the only element I can use to bring my imagination to a creative perception.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The type of videos I create are true to me. I create things for the youth, true stories that can be relatable. 95% of the time I’m in my head, so I like to create the things that I want the world to see Getting to where I am now wasn’t easy. When you’re creating something, in the beginning everyone won’t understand the vision, but I overcame it by continuing to be true to myself and being here to do what God sent me to do. It wasn’t meant for those who don’t understand, but only those who do. I learned to not trust people too soon with my creativity and to also learning to understand worth. I want the world to know that I am a legend.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hanging out Magic City and I’ll take them to food and drinks at my favorite Thai restaurant. For hangout and places to checkout I like walking the beltline. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to God & my spirits, but also to Eif Rivera for opening new doors for me as a black female director and coming on board as a male figure in my career. I’m grateful because this is a male dominant industry and it’s very rare to have genuine support and guidance. So I am gracious to be able to sharpen my skills with a great leader in my corner.
