We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise Leslie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denise, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea came after doing the clinical studies. The clinical studies were fibromyalgia, depression, IBS, etc. After the result of those studies, I knew I needed. to create Medical & Sports Massage to help people. in addition to that, I had to create a safe space for massage therapists to be able to do their work in a clinical environment because in America that kind of environment is not offered right now. That’s the logistical part – the energetic part is the miraculous work that is happening for our patients. They are functioning better in their physical, emotional, and spiritual life. We have this ability to connect with our patients on all of these levels which is truly miracle work, in my opinion,

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Clinical massage is the study of anatomy and physiology, and it helps balance the lymphatics and blood flow so that the body can facilitate its own detoxification and healing process. It’s a very organic and holistic approach to health and wellbeing. Sports massage is a more kinetic approach, in that, we do orthopedic assessment and dealing with spinal and postural misalignments because of overuse. In doing so, it prevents injury, but we also do work with injuries to restore the athlete and then put them on a treatment plan and then work into the kinetics. That is a little about the work.

I don’t think that I have competition because the owners of the businesses like mine are not practitioners. They don’t have the capacity to develop their therapists, the way that I do.

I am proud in so many ways. Personally, Im proud of my perseverance. I am proud to say that I have a team of people who believe in me, believe in my vision, and share their talents to support the vision. I feel so honored. I am so excited about the future of clinical massage and the opportunity to help better and impact people’s lives.

My perseverance helped me get to where I am today business wise. Every problem that I was faced with, I found a solution. I refused to take no for an answer. i overcame these challenges with my faith and my strong belief in the mission for the work. The work and the mission are so important, I know I can’t stop. Which is what inspired my nonprofit organization, Healing Hands. Our organization is partners with the East Georgia Cancer Coalition. Our nonprofit works to increase community access to massage therapy services by reducing out of pocket costs. Healing Hands participants receive a series of four massage therapy sessions at no cost to them. By receiving massage therapy, survivors’ and fighters’ quality of life and overall sense of well-being can increase.

I have learned that serving the people is the most important part of business. I have learned that relationships and communication are the keys to life. I want the world to know that my intentions and my drive is love-based. I want people to have faith in humanity and in me. That’s who I am.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start at the Garden Room. We would definitely visit botanical gardens and stroll through the views of Piedmont park. I would want them to see the High museum of art, museum of Martin Luther King Jr. and since the scenario is a week long – I would absolutely drive them to Savannah so we can see all of the historical features of the coast.

Coming back up to the city, we have to go to Loca Luna. That’s the spot! The dancing, the views, the music – it’s all breathtaking. Me and the girls, also have to shop! We have to shop at Phipps plaza with all the designer shops there!

Depending on the season, we have to go enjoy whatever sport is in season of course!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to Shoutout the book “Wheels of Life” by Anodea Judith PhD. I think everyone should read and would benefit from the teachings in this book.
