We had the good fortune of connecting with Denia Durden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I personally feel like being an entrepreneur is all about risks. For me, the biggest risk was being a Master Cosmetologist. I was always told that wasn’t a real job or I needed a career with benefits and a 401K. It’s hard going against what your parents believe and what you saw. I have been taking risks my whole adult life because I knew I wanted to see the dreams I had as a kid come true.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been a licensed cosmetologist for 11 years and a certified trichologist for 2 years. I always knew I wanted to help women feel beautiful, but I know it’s about more than a hairstyle.

I created Nia Sade in 2018 with the idea that it would be a brand that inspired women with journals, affirmations, etc. I would post inspiration on social media and even started a blog in 2020, but I felt like something was missing. In 2020, I decided to move into my own salon suite and as I was thinking of a salon name it hit me that Nia Sade’ would be the overall brand, but it would have different components. Salon Nia Sade’ Beauty & Hair Loss would be the beauty aspect of it because I was already a hairstylist and certified trichologist. Nia Sade Beauty would be the e-commerce store where I retail hair products, ebooks, etc.

I also created Living Healthy with Lupus (a community to help women with Lupus minimize flare ups from a holistic approach) and Nia Sade’ Beauty (an e-commerce store that offers quality products trusted by professionals). I look forward to doing so much more to help women!

The Nia Sade’ Brand inspires women to live a healthier lifestyle (mentally, physically and emotionally) through beauty. It’s definitely not easy, but nothing worth having is. I believe that I learn something new everyday about business. I’m excited to continue to help women feel beautiful, educate them on hair care and partner with them to dig deep to find the source of their hair loss.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Top Golf would definitely be one of our stops. La Parilla and Tin Lizzy’s because we definitely enjoy tacos.
Perimeter or The Forum for a little shopping.
Ponce City Market to hang out, play games and look at the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am thankful that God allows me to live out my dreams daily!

I appreciate every client who has ever sat in my chair, booked a consultation, sent me a referral or purchased a product!
