We had the good fortune of connecting with DeNeisha Branch,MBA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DeNeisha, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose a creative career, because I’m a lover of Fashion and Retail. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved playing dress up and doing arts and crafts. I love everything about the industry. I knew very early on I wanted to study Fashion. After my first quarter in school, I landed a seasonal job at Nordstrom’s doing visual merchandising. Working a very hands-on job helped me realize that Visual Merchandising was definitely the career I wanted to pursue. From then on, I never looked back. I’ve held several different titles such as Project Manager, CRM Manager, Luxury Visual Merchandising, Luxury Sales Operations, Brand Management and much more. What I love most about having a creative career is I always get to see a Brand come to life from start to finish. It’s a very rewarding feeling working in a creative industry, I get to bring ideas and visions to life for people and their brands.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is DeNeisha Branch, MBA; owner of BranDesign Consulting. I have over 10 years of retail experience and have worked for some of the world’s top brands. In my years of experience, I have earned a Bachelors of Arts in Fashion Marketing and Masters of Business Administration in Management. I’m Women’s Entrepreneurship Certified from Ecornell. With my years of work experience I have held several titles such as Entrepreneur, Brand Project Manager, Luxury Visual Merchandiser, Operation Support, Luxury Sales Support, and much more. After a decade of working in retail, I decided to launch a women’s Online boutique called UnderStated Boutique. With my experience of launching a boutique in this highly saturated ecommerce market, I have learned and grown a lot as an individual in the industry. I want to share my experience and knowledge with others to help them do the same. I have so much expertise to share to help start, grow and motivate any individual down the path of success on their retail business journey.

BranDesign Consulting is a company that strives on excellent customer service and driven results. My goal is to help businesses and individuals strategize, organize and brand their businesses and personal development. Brand Design Consulting will offer a variety of services to clients that are seeking knowledge in a Boutique Start-Up and Retail Brand Strategy Development and Merchandising. Boutique Start-Up for individuals who don’t know where to begin to launch their online businesses, Retail Strategy Development to help grow your existing business and clientele. What I’m most proud of with my consulting business is that I get to help people start and rebrand their businesses. I also enjoy being able to offer resources and support to my clients along the way with their business journey.

UnderStated Boutique offers a variety of women’s clothing and accessories to fit every woman’s unique taste in style. We strongly believe that every woman should stand out and feel confident in her own skin no matter her size, shape or nationality. All our clothing and accessories we carry are perfectly designed to fit our customers’ tastes and provide them with the latest fashions. We update our catalog with the newest arrivals on a monthly basis. If you want to create a wonderful wardrobe for yourself, then Understated Boutique is the perfect place to shop. What I’m proud of most with my boutique is that the clothing I select is to make all women feel confident about themselves. I want every woman to love the body she is in. Another proud moment is implementing a virtual try-on with a UK developer to allow my customers to have a unique experience. I just thought this was so cool and innovative.

I have learned so much from launching two different businesses. It was plenty of long nights and sacrifices I made to grow two businesses. I’m grateful that God gave me the tenacity to be a business owner of two businesses, because it’s definitely not for everyone. It takes hard work, great work ethics, and consistency to keep a business growing in this saturated market today. I will tell anyone that’s trying to start a business, don’t just start a business because you think it’s cool or just for the money. I believe that kind of mindset is the quickest way to fail as a first-time business owner. It’s extremely important to love what you do; I wouldn’t trade entrepreneurship for nothing in the world. I love to change people’s lives, while creating financial freedom and generational wealth for future families. I’m so thankful and grateful for all the opportunities that have been presented to me over the years.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My Atlanta itinerary will be filled with exciting activities and attractions that express the true spirit of the city. First, we have to visit the biggest and most well-known attractions in the city. They are all located downtown, fairly close to each other. Over the course of 2/3 days, we’ll likely tour the World of Coca Cola, spend some time in Centennial Park & ride the SkyView Farris wheel, visit largest aquarium in the USA (Georgia Aquarium) to catch a live show, and most importantly visit the National Center for Civil and Human Rights museum. Atlanta is the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement has deep roots in the city, it’s a must see. Other attractions we’ll visit would be Atlanta Botanical Gardens, we can picnic in Piedmont Park and take a stroll in the neighborhoods of Little Five Points and East Atlanta. I love to eat & shop so Ponce City Market is one of Atlanta’s hot spots. Nightlife spots I would recommend are Agency Socitique for a upscale social vibe, Whiskey Mistress for live band, Pappeduex for their Louisiana cuisine and Rock Steady for the Caribbean cuisine lounge vibe and I definitely can’t forget about the lovely shops of Buckhead with all the luxury shopping and fine dining experiences. Atlanta has so many fun unique places to explore. These are just a few great places that I love in the city. I’m sure anyone would love all these experiences just as much as I do. So, check them out on your next visit to Atlanta, you won’t be disappointed.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to first give thanks to God without him none of this would be possible. I would love to give my shoutout to my mom first. She has always believed in me and encouraged me along my professional and business journey. My style and creativity definitely comes from her. She used to sew my clothing as a little girl. From this point on growing up as a stylish little girl definitely created the urge for my fashion sense and style. I also want to thank my parents over all , because both mother and father are very supportive of everything I do. My dad definitely pushes me daily to keep the faith and I will succeed in whatever I put my mind to. This has really encouraged me to keep going, because when I tell you this definitely wasn’t an easy journey at all. Having and wanting a creative career isn’t easy to be in. You definitely have to have tough skin to rise above all the adversity. Also choosing to become an Entrepreneur isn’t easy but it’s definitely rewarding. I’m very grateful to share my gifts and talents with people. I pride myself in being resourceful. I also want to give a shout to all my supportive friends and family over the years. Thank You So Much to you all for all the love and support! It means so much to me!

I want to also give another shout out to all the women out there doing big things in the Fashion and Retail Industry like Nicole Lynel, Jance Chartae, Lilly Closet, Kay & Co and so many more. All of these different brands and ladies have inspired me with their work ethics and creativity.
