Meet Denard | Fashion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Denard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denard, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted the ability to express myself through design, and because I dress well clothing just seemed like an obvious choice.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It hasn’t been easy at all to be honest. I live in Milwaukee, a pretty small city where support is very difficult to come up on so every single sale is a grind. But I just keep it going knowing my hard work will eventually pay off, because people can only ignore pure talent for so long. So that’s what keeps me goin, the fact that what I’m doin today is paving the way for my success 5 years from now.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It was be Casablanca on Brady street for sure. It’s a very stylish spot where all the young people spend there weekends and special days. Other than that, I’d say Prime Social on any Sunday of the month. They have a brunch party every week. This is where everybody gets dressed and show up to show out.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It would have to be my barber. You see, when I first started my brand I immediately gave up on it because I feared a lack of support. After showing him what I’d been working on he really liked it and convinced me to go ahead and get back to it. Before that conversation I had pretty much gave up on my dream. So I’d definitely have to give him a shoutout because without him I’d never be doing what I actually love to do.
