We had the good fortune of connecting with Demetrius Dorn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Demetrius, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
A’Dorn Comfy Closet was created to provide women of all ages the ultimate source for stylish, comfy, affordable, top-notch Loungewear that’s just as soft as it is stylish. Whether you’re unwinding after a long day at work, running errands or simply appreciate the finer things in life like a cozy pair of joggers, a soft hoodie, comfy leggings sets, fuzzy slippers or a stretchy Maxi Dress with pockets; we’ve certainly got you covered.

I’ve worked in the OR for 25 years so by all means I know the importance of comfort, and needing to relax at the end of the day. I turned 51 this year and thought of tight, uncomfortable, restrictive clothing was something I’m no longer interested in. I launched A’Dorn Comfy Closet to satisfy all those Comfy wear needs because I’m sure I’m not alone.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets A’Dorn Comfy Closet apart from other brands is the fact that we provide such a warm, comfy family owned feel. My daughter Jade is a major part of my business and it gives off that welcoming aura. We are the faces behind the business, and so many people love and appreciate that.

Nothing in life has ever been easy for me, a lot based on poor decisions as a young adult. I was a mother by 16. Divorced and homeless by 26. That homelessness led to free education. I graduated Surgical Tech school with Honors in 1999, still standing proud today to be able to assist in so many life saving procedures. It’s taught me to keep going, keep believing, keep fighting for the things you want. I still apply those lessons to my everyday life.

My oldest daughter passed away, so I embarked on this journey to create something meaningful, a business that symbolizes the warmth comfort and love Ashley brought into our lives.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to just chill and relax so a massage/ day spa would certainly be on the list. At 51, the night life has certainly become my least favorite, but Brunch is right up my alley. I love music, a day in the park. Nice low key fun. It doesn’t take much to please me. Good food, music, great vibe. I’m sold.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A’Dorn Comfy Closet isn’t just an online Loungewear Boutique, it’s the realization of a heartfelt and enduring tribute to my beloved daughter Ashley Dorn, who passed away in 2000. Hence the name A’Dorn Comfy Closet. Even in her absence, everything I do is for her.
