We had the good fortune of connecting with Demetrius and Sheneika Hardy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Demetrius and Sheneika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We first took interest in event space ownership when we were planning our own wedding over 10 yrs ago. Throughout that planning process, we toured multiple venues, contacted several vendors, and spent a small fortune to create the day of our dreams. The process was overwhelming, and we began thinking of ways that we could remove some of the hassle and stress from the planning process. Our goal as event space owners is to provide an upscale space that can meet the needs of every client’s budget with a first-class customer service experience of excellence.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a husband and wife team that met during undergrad at Kentucky State University. We’ve continued to build upon the values, relationships, and experiences obtained from our alma mater and wanted to lay the foundation of entrepreneurship for our children. It’s important for our children to see first hand what hard work and following yours dreams could lead you. We are now the owners of an event space located in Johns Creek, Ga called Memories Event Space. Our space is a multifunctional space where each client has the ability to create, capture, and cherish their own special memories. We are very excited about our journey and where this path will lead us. We are eager to cultivate and fuse new partnerships and collaborate with other great minds to grow our business. We are most excited about the memories that we’ll help each client create. The Hardest part about this process was getting started. Taking the risk and deciding to accept all of the challenges that comes our way. Once we developed that mindset, we were rolling! Following the blueprint provided to us, writing out our goals step by step and holding ourselves accountable were major factors throughout the process. We live by the motto of “It’s gotta work or it’s gotta work.” We want the world to know that your dreams are worth the risk! There’s alot of hard work involved and requires many sacrifices but the outcome is so rewarding. There’s joy in knowing that you have built a legacy for your family and created opportunities for them that will set them up for a lifetime of success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is such a beautiful city with so much to offer! Some of our favorite spots that we would be sure to showcase to our guest would be the Ponce City Market to shop, grab a quick meal, and catch views of the city. We could take a walk or bike ride through the beltline by day and have drinks at the Painted Pin at night. A few of our favorite restaurants are Breakfast at Barney’s , STK steakhouse, and Pappadeaux. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We have to give a major shoutout to our mentor Nehemiah Davis. He helped us birth our dream of becoming event space owners. Something that we’ve dreamt about but wasn’t sure how to accomplish. We joined his Circle of Greatness community and completed the Event Space Secret course that provided the blueprint for successful event space ownership. With the course, we’ve gained so much information and a sense of family from the other entrepreneurs within the circle. We give many thanks to our God for giving us a clear vision and allowing us to pursue our dreams. A Shoutout to us for being risk takers and trusting the process.
