We had the good fortune of connecting with Delleon McGlone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Delleon, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Freedom requires sacrifice” is my favorite affirmation because no matter what your goal is it will require some level of digging deep and challenging yourself. Sometimes not all the time people like the idea of something more than the work required to get it done but when the work is done those who were committed to the process regardless of the challenge it was reap the benefits. How far are you willing to go, how deep are you willing to dig, how driven are you, and what will you sacrifice to achieve the goal you have for yourself? It’s the winnergy (Winners Energy) mentality.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got my start in Web 3 / crypto because I was looking for purposeful work as I was transitioning out of the military. I’d spent some time on active duty as an intelligence analyst and I enjoyed what I did there but didn’t want to do it as a civilian. I did a design BootCamp that scoffed at my projects in cannabis and crypto so I dropped out of the BootCamp but kept doing the work. I literally started reaching out to people on Twitter saying “Hey, I’m a self-taught UX designer does your company have any opportunities. I specifically sought out VCs in the crypto space because they would know what their portfolio company’s needs were. Steven D. McKie (VC at Amentum Capital) responded and told me I needed to join the Raid Guild & join their DAO. I was really fortunate that the timing was right because I got into their Szn 0 apprenticeship program and my DAO journey took off from there. I was championed (voted in) as a member and joined several other DAOs as a contributor ranging from hosting fireside chats (Web 3 Designerz DAO), Community builder & moderator (Potion DAO), Bounty collector & gold token holder member (Global Coin Research) and I consult for some DAOs that are early-stage – most notably helping fox and the Masked Singer TV show onboarding their community and standing up their NFT marketplace.
In my current role, I am the Community Lead at Syndicate DAO, where anyone or a group of people can start a Web 3 investment club – https://syndicate.io/.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always tell friends or family visiting Atlanta you gotta eat at Ms. Iceys and Roc South they have the best customers service and food. Stay at a hotel that is central to everything if you can because no matter where you go traffic will be an issue. As far as things to do, I always love the wine festival because it’s a chill atmosphere and people are only looking for a good time, not drama or trouble. I like ax throwing so bad ax-throwing is something I think is fun to do or indoor golf at Puttshack is a nice experience to have with friends or a family outing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to shout out my mom & my wife. As an only child, growing up in West Philly my mom took me everywhere with her. I was her hip-baby and she was a community organizer and social activist and a lot of the work I’ve done has been a reflection of what she exposed me to.

My wife has been in my corner in every idea, career change, or opportunity I’ve embarked on and never waivered her support regardless if it worked out or not. When I was transitioning out of the Georgia National Guard, I went back to school to acquire skills (UX Design) that would allow me to compete in the tech industry and that was a financial sacrifice we had to make and when things got tight she encouraged to stay the course, I couldn’t ask for more support than that.
