We had the good fortune of connecting with Deja Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deja, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Originally, my thought process was just to have a little extra side money to help pay for school. I was doing side jobs until summer of 2023 when I decided to make my first business account just to separate my primary job money and what I was making on my own. And then immediately turned into an LLC and an actual side business! My business then started growing faster than the current business and after a year, I quit my 9 to 5 and I am officially on my own as Furever Classy!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So probably like a lot of other entrepreneurs, I got to where I’m at due to absolutely hating my last boss/job. It was the last salon I had worked in, in Atlanta, And I had gotten to the point to where I was literally bawling my eyes out just on the way to work and home from work.
I was unjustly fired when I was in the ER for not giving a 24 hour notice that I was going to an emergency room and when that happened, I decided it was time to be on my own because I couldn’t do it anymore. Also, knowing that working under other people just added too much restraint with not enough benefits financially, to really help me through school in the first place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am an activities type of person, I would probably take her to third spot or putt shack, which are arcade bars, we then would probably go to Cloverland Ranch to do some horseback riding and ATV riding for the day. We would probably find a rooftop bar or go grab some wings from Hungry AF or The Bando. Or go home and get some Pasta Queen takeout and watch a movie.
The night before she leaves, we would probably eat at Esco Bar and Lounge or Old Lady Gang. And we would take me and my dogs on super fun, hikes and trails such as the Morningside hike and pond.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve grown up without parents, and I’ve been taking care of myself since I was 15-years-old, so I don’t have a mom or dad to give any credit to. However, when I was in junior college, my professor, Dr. Hale was turned into a father figure for me, and he supported and advised almost every step until I got accepted Spelman and even thereafter. When I was worried about not being able to finish my last year of school due to the expense of school, he gave me a lot of advice and even offered to help pay for my tuition however because I’m used to getting everything on my own I was uncomfortable and instead he boosted my motivation and drive to chase and make more than I’ve ever seen. I’ll always appreciate his presence in my life.
