Meet Deidra McDowell | Realtor, IT Professional, Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Deidra McDowell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deidra, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks has played a significant role in my life. I have taken several risks in my adult life, and if I never stepped out on faith, then I would have missed out on many things. I encourage anyone who is considering taking a risk or leap of faith and just go for it! You can either sink or swim, and if you sink, you can always try again until you get it right.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I wear multiple hats on a day to day basis. My main job is being a mother to my 6 year old daughter. The job that requires the most work that pays nothing! LOL! I am also a Realtor in the greater Atlanta area, I own my own company, Pacific District Solutions, LLC, I work full-time for an institute under the University System of Georgia in Atlanta, I own a small catering company (lumpia), Rolled by Deidra and I am currently working on a new venture with my business partner from Seattle, WA so stay tuned for that.
I am most proud of being able to do all these things at once! It is not easy but I am grateful and proud that I am able to multi-task.
I got to where I am today professionally by stepping out on faith and never giving up. It was challenging, especially raising a daughter and trying to figure out how I was going to do it, but time management is KEY.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited the area, I would take her to an Atlanta Hawks game. She has been my best friend since I was 8 years old and we grew up daddy’s girls who always took us to Seattle Supersonics basketball games and Seattle Mariners baseball games growing up. I would also probably take her to Savannah, GA for a road trip because she has never been.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother, Lolita McDowell. My mom has inspired me my whole entire life. She came to the United States from the Philippines and created a life not only for herself, but for her whole entire family in the US and Philippines. She is my inspiration and my hustle comes from her.
