Meet Deferred Dreams | Female Owned Music Label

We had the good fortune of connecting with Deferred Dreams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deferred, what do you want people to remember about you?
Deferred Dreams (DDreams) set out to make music that matters. Music with a soul. Depth. Honesty. And a little heat! Music with a message and meaning. Reminiscent of what we used to listen to from our generations and older. Sharing that love and experience with younger generations, as well as those familiar with it, is our goal.
We are songwriters. And creators. And people. Living the human experience alongside millions of strangers, but connecting through music. DDreams wants to make you feel, heal, or bring you to your feet when you want to dance. If someone chooses to spend time listening to, humming, singing, strumming or enjoying a song we’ve published, that is a true legacy for us. It’s a privilege to share time with people and we’re so grateful to everyone who chooses to listen to our catalog.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our music has a message. We tackle tough issues plaguing people today. From Suicide to Addiction, our brand is focused on sharing space with people in the highs and the lows and everywhere in between. DDreams is a positive force for listeners.
Any outside pressures to exhibit anything we don’t agree with, is set free. We acknowledge it, and it let go. Whether it’s to be more trendy, or risqué, or look a certain way, DDreams works to honor the authentic self, and what feels good to us, individually.
The biggest lessons we’ve learned are to continually set intentions and check our path. We ask ourselves: Are we still doing work that aligns with our souls? Is joy still alongside every footstep, even when the work is hard or less than desirable? Is this the journey we still want to be on?
Our brand is about inspiring others to chase their dreams. And we do it through all genres of music.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta – Dinner at Chai Yo, followed by dirty martini’s sitting at the oyster bar with hand stuffed blue cheese olives at Lobster Bar. For a nightcap, cut over to the St Regis bar for a cognac flight.
Athens – You gotta stop in at Sea Bear. Indulge in amazing cocktails – tiki inspired and regular. And enjoy some noshes: fresh oysters, lobster rolls, and the best scallion pancakes covered in a delicate rock crab salad.
A day trip up to the wineries up in Dahlonega (Accent Cellars) and Cleveland, GA (CeNita, The Cottage, Wolf Mountain) but start in Helen, GA for a quick bite (Village Crepe Haus, Bodensee, Hofer’s Bakery)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is for all the dreamers. Don’t sit and wonder. Take action. Give five minutes a day to your dream, and build from there. Find your joy and you’ll set a pace.
You’re going to have doubts. You’re going to be told “No.” You’re even going to want to quit. In that space, re-center, remember your dream, and never stop climbing. It’s not going to be easy, but you have to feel joy even in the darkness. Don’t let your sparkle dim. Recalibrate and keep moving. You are the life source of your dream. Keep feeding it.
And shout outs also to God, our families, and friends….your strength and support for us, even in the silence of life’s hustle, has fueled our fight to keep dreaming.
