We had the good fortune of connecting with Dedria McClure and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dedria, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Before I started kindergarten, my mom told me something that I have stuck with me even today. She stated “Do not be anyone else, but yourself”.

To be honest, through out my school years. I wanted to be like everyone else. I wanted to be normal. I didn’t want to stick out like a sore thumb. I already had a weird name (DéMeale) and I already had a difficult time speaking.

How wrong was I? She knew I wasn’t meant to be like anyone. Why would I want to be like anyone? If I am like anyone then I would likely to be forgotten. My mind completely change when I graduate from High School. I am always looking for a way to stand out. I want to be someone that every could remember. I will be someone that everyone will remember!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I completely thought being a photographer would be so much fun and easy. I was right about one thing. It’s is definitely so much fun.

However, I would change the word easy. It’s so much work being a business owner and a photographer.

I have to set boundaries with my personal life and my business life. If not, then my life would be completely chaotic.

Even when you feel that you know everything, you don’t! The industry is always changing and you have to be updated with the times.

You don’t just press a button to take a picture. You have to make sure that you shutter speed, f-stop and ISO is balance. If not than you will definitely have an interesting photo.

Your banding definitely makes your company and so do you! You have to express you truly are to receive the business that you desire to have.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best place to be is in Atlanta. I could have the best time in Centennial Park. Everything I would want to do would be there. I would enjoy my night life there and my family life there. I would enjoy going to the Georgia Aquarium, The World of Coca-Cola, and Skyview just to name a few place for activists. The late night meal would definitely be Waffle House.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My older sister, Jessica, actually came up with the name for my photography business. My mother, Tabatha, who bought me my first camera when I was in middle school.
A high school friend, Kimberly, that took a chance on me to capture her daughter.
