We had the good fortune of connecting with Decorey Hale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Decorey, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
To never give up. That’s the biggest, most important lesson I’ve ever learned. I had plenty of people along the way tell me they could help me out and what they could do for me. And it never came to fruition. But in hindsight, it was all bad timing. I often say it’s easy to cut off the game or take our ball home when we start to lose; next time try seeing it through. You will be amazed by the results of perseverance.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a children’s author, having published two books and currently working on a third. These books have been labors of love, starting out as bedtime stories for my children. Fast forward a few years and here we are. What means the most to me is that I am able to lead by example; I always tell them to never give up, and this is the product of perseverance. I’ve had plenty of sleepless nights and days of worry, but in the end, it is all worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The downtown area is the best part for me. To sightsee and people watch.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to all of the indie authors out there. I understand the grind, long days and sacrifice that it takes to bring forth something that you are proud of. So to each and every one of you: keep pushing, keep shooting for the stars and making us believe.
