Hi DeCarlos, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
One of the most impactful books I’ve recently read is my own creation, “How I Met The Love of My Life and Lost Him At The Same Time.” In this memoir, I delve into the intoxicating highs and crushing lows of a tumultuous three-year relationship that took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. From the initial meeting, where neither of us could have foreseen the saga of heartbreaks, betrayals, and jail stints that awaited, to the painful journey of falling in love with someone, desperately hoping for change, and finally finding the strength to let go.

The book is not just a recounting of personal experiences but a raw exploration of the stages of a queer relationship. Using a unique format featuring diary entries, voice memos, and text messages, I open up about every aspect of my journey, confronting my own mistakes and moments of shame instead of crafting a self-righteous narrative.

My artistic journey is a vibrant tapestry woven with personal and professional threads, encapsulating my roles as a passionate life explorer, author, entrepreneur, and advocate. Hailing from the dynamic city of Chicago, I’ve confronted and triumphed over the challenges of homophobia, poverty, and internal struggles, molding my spirit into one of resilience. Central to my artistic expression is my memoir, “How I Met The Love of My Life and Lost Him At The Same Time,” a raw and authentic narrative that not only shares my personal experiences but offers a universal story of resilience, self-discovery, and the courage needed to embrace one’s true self. In this literary exploration, I break generational curses and celebrate a life painted in vibrant shades of pink, embodying authenticity and individuality while adorned in a crop top and hot pink eyeshadow.

Sharing such a personal journey with the world was not without its challenges, as perception can be both a blessing and a curse. However, witnessing the impactful response it had on communities around me left me feeling liberated and grateful for its creation. A crucial lesson I’ve learned on this artistic odyssey is the importance of moving at my own pace, adhering to my schedule regarding publication, and carefully choosing the content shared during the earlier marketing stages. My authenticity has proven to be a driving force, and I believe integrity is our greatest asset. What sets me apart is not just my artistic endeavors but the courage to be unapologetically myself, embracing authenticity and celebrating individuality. My professional journey has been a testament to perseverance, navigating challenges with resilience, and continuously learning from each experience. As I propel forward, I want the world to know that my art is more than a personal expression – it’s a call to embrace one’s true self, break free from societal constraints, and revel in the kaleidoscope of life’s vibrant pink colors.

Agora Midtown is my current obsession and this is where we’ll spend our entire day stuffing our faces!

Through her empowering lyrics and bold beats, she has infused me with positive affirmations that have become the anthem of my self-discovery journey. Without Nicki’s influential presence, it’s likely that my path to confidence would have been dimmer, lacking the vibrant hues of empowerment she effortlessly brings to her brand and, by extension, my life.
