We had the good fortune of connecting with Debrayta Salley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Debrayta, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my Business was to support Women along their Life’s Journey specifically through Life Transitions like changes in Career, Identifying their Purpose, Gaining Clarity around desired results and Accountability in Goal Setting and Accomplishment. My desired methods of accomplishing this has been through Coaching, Mentoring, Inspirational and Empowering writings via Books, Blogs, Newsletters, Podcasts, Gatherings, etc.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Business Professional, I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 2004. I have also worked in the field of Accounting for almost 30 years in a variety of industries including but not limited to Banking, Health Care, Higher Education, Non-Profit, Pharmacy, and a Law Firm.

My passion for streamlining processes and tasks, being detailed oriented and discovering ways to work smarter sets me apart from others. I cringe at the thought of handling a task manually when there is always a way to automate or streamline processes. My motto is: Let Technology work for you as much as you can so you can more effectively utilize your time.

God has blessed me to reach the place I am today in my Professional Carer where effort and determination have been my strengths. Along with being able to successfully gain the required knowledge educationally, I have been fortunate to obtain a varied skillset from the varied Industries that I have worked in. This was not always easy, but the journey has been worth it. Some of the challenges I have overcome include being aware of what your stressers are , learning the importance of self care and being the underdog at times and not taking things personally. I believe that these lessons that will continue to be my guiding lights. The amazing thing is that I’ve been able to use these lessons in my Personal/Professional life, but also in my Business Life.

I would like the world to know that my greatest desire is to be in the Center of God’s Will whether it be Personally, Professionaly or in Business. While I may have a Business or Brand, I will always seek to be led by His standards and guidance. I want people to see His light shining through me and come to know Him for themselves especially through my Testimony of His goodness and Faithfulness especially in the test and trials of life.

We all have an assigned purpose, gift, talent and He’s the only one that gave them to us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take them to enjoy some good Maryland Crabs, Crablegs or Crabcakes. We would also spend sometime in the outdoors whether it be the Beach, Lakes, or Parks. We would take in a good play or concert socially distancing enforced, of course. Visit the National Harbor in Washington, DC, the Baltimore Inner Harbor, and any other museums that are open to the public.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout Dream Mentors International Founded by Pastors Candice Smithyman and Adam Smithyman – www.dreammentors.org.

I was Blessed to connect with them about 11 years ago when I was in a major period of transition and had just begun my journey as a Life Coach and grieving and healing from the death of my Late Husband.

Dream Mentors is a program that trains, supports and equips Faith-Based Coaches to become Biblical Life Coaches and Transformational Life Coaches. The courses offered through the program are Life Changing, Transformational and eye opening. The content and experience gained through the Certification program not only equipped me to better help others, but more importantly embrace my own process of Santification and grow in Christ leaving behind comdemnation and trying to do things in my own strength. I am forever grateful for coming in contact with this hidden jewel.
