Meet Deanna Choo: Momprenuer , Blogger & State Government worker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Deanna Choo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deanna, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance is very important and I try to maintain it and I can say that I’m actually doing pretty well. I’m a full time 9-5 worker , a full time business owner and a full time mother to a four year old. It can get very challenging at times but with prayer and a great support system I manage it well. With time and experience it has gotten a lot easier. It takes times to learn your routines and what works best for you . In the beginning of my journey after college and graduating with a baby I was so lost . I knew I had to get a job to provide and take care of my kid. It took me 1 month and I got a decent job . I started my business that same year . I learned overtime have to deal with stress and how to manage my time with work and personal life . My job was very demanding and so was my child. I had to come to a agreement with myself it was hard because I needed to work to make money and my child needed me at home. It took me three years to leave that job and get a more stable job that works around my child’s schedule and now I get more time with her and even more time to focus on my business . With this new time management plan I’m able to do more and focus more and to have a great balance with work and life . With this I am also about to work on my second business venture which I am super proud of . Having work life balance means so much to me. I try not to mix my personal with my business and separate the two but at times they seem to intertwine. Doing what’s best for me is mainly important and I’m happy to have found a work life balance plan that works best for me, my family and my business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently I have a regular 9-5 job with the State of GA that I love. I was promoted to my most current position in March of 2020. I enjoy helping others in and outside of the community. It took a lot of prayer and me applying myself to get to where I am today. I have sooo much more farther to go this is only the beginning for me and my career professional. Immediately after I get off of my 9-5 I go into Momprenuer mode, picking up my daughter from school, to checking emails, posting on social media , filling orders and making designs. I enjoy what I do . I have fun while working. It gives me a thrill . I want the world to know that you can do it all . You can live out all of your dreams in one lifetime, it’s possible if you apply yourself and put in the work. Nothing comes easy !
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having my best friend in town for a week would be sooo much fun , first thing I’ll do it take her to Thumbs up Diner in Edgewood. I love that place & I’m sure she will as well. I’m not really a party person . So I will prolly go hiking or on a trail somewhere in the mountains or to piedmont park . They have food trucks out there on certain days and we can enjoy some good food because we both love food . Red bird in west midtown is a good place as well. I love going to wet willies as well. Really any good food places I’m down to try and explore. She would most definitely have to go to Mary Mac’s, they’re soo good . After all that eating we would have to go to a gym lol but hey it’s vacation so more fun . We can go to Sky View and maybe go to some bars around there after. Some other great places we can go to can be The escape game Atlanta in Brookhaven , iFly is a great place to visit. Stoddard’s range and guns would be fun , Top Golf is also a good place to visit and have fun and eat. It’s so many places that you can visit . I’m still finding out more and more places daily .
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a big shoutout to my support system because without them I wouldn’t be able to have the drive, motivation, flexibility and balance that I currently have. My mother, Deborah Phillip & my sisters Sasha and Rita !
