We had the good fortune of connecting with Deamonte, Kelvin Gibson, Patrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deamonte, Kelvin, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
The Rogue Soul Podcast founders Kelvin Patrick and Deamonte Gibson are originally from the Washington, DC area. DC is a unique city in which the culture that we have embraced is truly one of one. One can infer that we are different, by observing the simple things in our culture such as food all the way to the music which is called “GoGo.” We strive at being one of one and making our own path, in which is similar to what our city has done. We want our podcast to be different but informal. Once you listen, you will have entertainment, education about things that are looked down upon in the urban community, and enstilling life impacting gems that could help the next person.

DC was known as the “murder capital” at one point and with both of us coming from humble beginnings, we saw the effect of the negativity impacting our community. We wanted to make sure we could highlight individuals from the community who showcase the positive contributions that are being done. Often times the positive things are hidden by the violence. Our ultimate goal is to change the face of the negative perception of Washington, DC while promoting the positive things in hopes of saving our community.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The reason I think we’re so unique is because of our ability to adapt. When we first decided to do the podcast we were debating if we should even do it or not because we’re not in the same place. We we’re just going to prolong it until we could find a way to be in the same place but we weren’t going to give up that easily we decided to do it online for the time being. That was the best decision we could have ever made because we could have never imagined people would actually want to hear what we have to say. We have been consistent and made a commitment to each other that we would give it our all. We don’t know what the future holds but no matter what we gone try our best and leave the rest to God. Rogue Souls push through adversity and thats the example were trying to set for the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My friends know if we trying to turn up the only place to go is Miami. The 305 is always a vibe, Collins ave is the place to be in South Beach. First thing we would do is go victory for brunch, then we would head to wynwood walls to check out some art and hit some bars. After that we would go to aventure mall do a little shopping and finish our night hitting up one of our go to spots, exchange. To be honest though we the life of the party we lit no matter where we at. We gone have fun regardless so whoever with us gone be lit too.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We have to dedicate our shoutout to our moms. Our mothers have sacrificed so much for us to be where we’re at and we owe them the world. They constantly motivated us to never give up, even when adversity became overwhelming there support is what got us through. The one thing our parents instilled in us that we’ll never forget is that we determine our future and with God and faith you could achieve anything you want in life.
