We had the good fortune of connecting with Dealia Pooler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dealia, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
One of my favorite books is Who moved my cheese by Spencer Johnson Something one wants that they think will make them happy while working hard to attain this & the circumstances take it away its heartbreaking. It’s crazy how something you worked years for can all be taken away instantly. It woke me up business wise because I only had one stream of income and If that was taken away I’d be in a very unpleasant situation. In other words don’t get too comfortable. Be ready for change & Adaptation is necessary for survival because having the finish line mentality will hinder you. Life is really just a series a problems that we all have to solve.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The things that set me apart are probably common amongst established photographers. A constant curiosity, originality, style & persistence. I got to where I am by just leaning into every single problem that would at some point take me away from photography. I’ve had moments where I had to use all my energy to survive instead of being free to create how I please which is not easy at all. In fact at some point it weighs on me & start to spew over into everything else in my life when I’m not creating how I should. I just learned to keep going and not dwell. Who really wants to entirely stop & dwell in what some might consider to be hell? What I want people to know is that I have a deep affection for what I do. It’s far beyond just great images but the interaction & lasting impressions are the most meaningful. That’s what sticks. I love the stories behind my images and forever thankful for every experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ponce city market to hang for sure. Could also get some good ramen there and run the belt line. Head to the Krog street market & tunnel, Little 5 points since that’s one of the areas I was attracted to when first got here. See out OutKast mural, Take him around to a few familiar scene locations in some tv shows and films. Gots to go hit American Deli in East point. JJs on metropolitan. Agavè on boulevard & can’t forget dwarf house. People still don’t believe me when I tell them there’s a chic fil a out here that sell fried okra & waffles lol. Legit would primarily be a food tour so it’s a number of places to go.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Another book that keeps me going just like who moved my cheese is Our Iceberg Is Melting: Changing and Succeeding Under Any Conditions by Holger Rathgeber and John Kotter. As far a the people that deserve credit and recognition there are a few: Marcus Johnson who’s an elite chef apart of TwoHommès based in Los Angeles Devohn Henry who’s an Artist based in my hometown of New Orleans.
Maurice Thomas another great Artist who’s based in Dallas.
Brianesha Moore the owner of the Stand On Loyalty brand based in Atlanta.
Alfred Rashad who’s an Art Enthuaist I work close with back in Atlanta.
Leon Howard the owner of the Wall Street Trapper Brand based in Atlanta.
Markeyia Callahan who’s a plethora of things but primarily an image consultant & the owner of WineItDown LLC based in Atlanta.
A holistic esthetician by the name of Kayla Zachary who owns SugarFaceLLC based in Houston
Danielle Williams the owner of the. brand Dressassurd based in Houston.
All these people continuously play substantial roles in my life & probably be apart of my bio pic when it’s time lol.
