We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The name Kith and Kin means friends and family. I wanted to create a space where our guests would feel at home and part of our family. Our entire culture is based on that premise and it begins with our staff. My son, his partner, my daughter in law and a family friend of many years are all a part of our team. We have a tight knit group of hairdressers who have become a part of our family as well! The most common theme from our reviews and feed back from our guests is that we have a friendly, caring staff and atmosphere that is inclusive for all walks of life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Kith + Kin Salon is a unique space filled with stylists and staff that truly want to be there. This sets us apart from other salons. We have cultivated a staff based on respect, talent and love. As a salon owner, I wanted our salon to reflect my values of community which is why we created a space that uplifts our guests and also ourselves. We are a safe space for all walks of life and have an outstanding reputation with the LGBTQ+ community. Opening a salon during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic came with its own challenges, but we were lucky enough to have the support of our staff and valued guests.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sandy Springs has a lot of hidden gems! After work, you can find a few of us grabbing a drink or bite to eat at The Select, Brooklyn Cafe or C+S Seafood + Oyster Bar. As the city expands we love to check out all the new spots! There is also the new Sandy Springs Performing Art Center that has some fun shows they put on; anything from musicals to concerts and art events!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our salon company could not have had the success that we have had without the hard work and dedication of my son Dillon Drummond and our salon director Allie Kinney!
