We had the good fortune of connecting with Davon Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Davon, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is the edge of the unknown, the thin line between comfort and the extraordinary. It’s the price of growth, the toll we must pay for transformation. To take a risk is to stand at the threshold of possibility, knowing that failure and success are both waiting on the other side.

In my life and career, risk has been the silent architect of progress. Every leap into the uncertain has shaped the path beneath my feet. It has tested my resolve, sharpened my instincts, and taught me that hesitation is often the enemy of greatness. The boldest moves—the ones that made my heart race—have led to the most profound rewards.

Risk is not recklessness; it is trust in one’s ability to navigate the unknown. It is the choice to embrace discomfort, to challenge limits, and to bet on the possibility of something greater. Without it, there is no story worth telling.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey has been anything but ordinary, and that’s exactly what sets my work apart. I am an author with my book Rooted In Resilience soon to be released on Amazon, a professional actor approaching my one-year mark in the industry on May 9, 2025, with over two lead role movies and three TV shows under my belt, and a business owner building something bigger than myself. My brothers, Daniel Jefferson and Cameron Miles, and I created BeyondTheFrame—not just as a business, but as a community designed to give people within the entertainment industry the opportunities they deserve.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy, but I never expected it to be. Every challenge, every setback, every moment of doubt was met with the four principles that have kept me grounded: God, Marketing, Relationships, and Commitment—always in that order. God has been my foundation, marketing has been my strategy, relationships have been my greatest asset, and commitment has been the force that kept me moving forward when giving up felt easier.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is that relationships are everything in business and in life. Talent and hard work matter, but without the right people around you, doors stay closed. And above all, I’ve learned that to truly succeed, you have to believe in your journey with an almost irrational level of faith. If your dreams don’t make people question whether you can actually pull them off, you’re not aiming high enough.

I want the world to know that my story isn’t just about me—it’s about proving that resilience, vision, and faith can turn the impossible into reality. My brand, my work, and everything I stand for is about creating opportunities, breaking barriers, and making sure that when one of us rises, we all do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly i know what i would do as of today but what i would want to do eventually is, I’d make sure their trip was more than just fun—I’d want them to leave with something valuable, whether it’s a new connection, a fresh perspective, or an opportunity they didn’t see coming. The way I see it, success is just as much about who you know as what you do, so the first priority would be getting them in the right rooms, shaking the right hands, and making sure they leave with more than just memories.

I’d start by taking them to a high-level business or industry event—something exclusive where real moves are being made. Whether it’s a networking mixer, a private dinner, a creative summit, or even a film premiere, I’d make sure they’re surrounded by people who can inspire them and open doors. After that, we can shift gears—maybe hit a rooftop lounge, a private club, or a late-night spot where we can unwind and celebrate the work we’ve put in.

Throughout the week, I’d mix in a few power lunches, mastermind sessions, and casual sit-downs with influential people in different industries because you never know who might have the key to the next big move. And of course, once the work is done, we’d go all out—whether it’s catching a game, hitting up the best restaurants, or just finding a spot with great energy where we can enjoy the moment. For me, the best time ever isn’t just about having fun—it’s about leaving better than you came.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If success is a tapestry, then every thread of my story is woven with the love, strength, and sacrifice of my grandmother, the women in my life, and my father. My grandmother’s resilience and unwavering belief in me shaped the foundation of who I am—she taught me that true strength isn’t just about standing tall but knowing when to bend, when to fight, and when to trust the process. The women in my life have been my guiding light, showing me through their wisdom, grace, and relentless drive that empathy and power are not opposites but the very forces that build something meaningful. And my father—his lessons weren’t always spoken, but I heard them in the way he loves me as his son. My dad gives his all every single day and I have been seeing that since I was kid. Without them, I wouldn’t be here, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, and I wouldn’t have the vision, the fire, or the heart to chase the life I know I’m meant to build. Every step I take, every success I reach for, carries a piece of them with me. This shoutout belongs to them.
