We had the good fortune of connecting with Davon Branch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Davon, how do you define success?
In our society, we have been conditioned to view success as obtaining the most money, working with celebrities, or living in the biggest homes. Even though all of these things are great, it limits our outlook on life. To me, success is not about riches and fame, it is about impact. I would define success as having the ability to influence change or improvement in another person’s life. Success is giving others the tools and resources to be their best self. My personal goal in life is to make a difference in at least one person’s life, no matter how big or small.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started Davon A.B. Photography two years ago when I lived in Chicago. I relocated to Atlanta in July of 2021 where I provide a wide range of services to the metropolitan area. I would say my ability to connect and relate to others sets my business apart from others. I also strive to make my subject or client feel most confident and comfortable in front of my camera. Highlighting the best features of whoever I am capturing at the moment. I would also like to stress the importance of respect. Working in these types of spaces, you get to interact with so many people and you never know who could be the one to give you your big break. That is why it is important to treat everyone with the same level of respect you would expect to receive. I am excited to officially be a member at Highlight Studios. While I was living in Chicago, I was fortunate enough to have a studio home. When I moved to Atlanta, I did not know many people, especially in the photography community. Thankfully, I have found a new home to create special memories in the coming months.
I am where I am today because I set goals and hold myself accountable for those goals. The things I’ve accomplished so far would not be possible without my family, friends, supporters, clients, and everyone in between. I would say that making your dreams a reality is hard for everyone and to persevere through doubt is even harder. To overcome the challenges I faced, I reminded myself that anything that is worth it will come with opposition. In order to pass that finish line, you are going to have ups and downs, but it is important to finish strong.
I’ve learned to always be confident in myself no matter what. Do not doubt yourself because you know what you’re doing. Do not be afraid to do something you’ve never done before. Try new things and experiment. It is okay if you fail as long as you learn from your mistakes and improve upon them. Lastly, do not be afraid to learn from others or reach out for guidance. Having a mentor is essential for your growth.
I want to let the world know that everything I do, I do it with intention. I aspire to provide clients with an extraordinary experience. My brand focuses on respect, effective communication, professionalism, quality, and most importantly, impact. I pride myself on providing a safe space for others to express themselves and be confident through the lens on my camera. My goal is to make everyone feel seen and appreciated. My long term goal is to travel to different states, connect with new people, experience new things, and make a difference one photo at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was in town and I wanted to show them a good time I would take them to Morgan Falls Park, Westside Park, or Piedmont Park for a nice outdoor picnic. For a great outdoor shopping experience with food, the Avalon or Atlantic Station. To appreciate the beauty of nature, I would go to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. For a fun night out, I would go to Puttshack in West Midtown and the surrounding restaurants/bars or The Battery. For good food, I would go to Chattahoochee Food Works, Louisiana Bistreaux, or Nancy’s Pizza. For brunch, Mojave, Bulla Gastrobar, or Flying Biscuit Cafe. For a formal dinner, Rays on the River.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person I would like to dedicate my shout out to is my partner. He has always encouraged and pushed me to step out of my comfort zone since the beginning of my journey. He has always been my assistant and right hand man. Whenever I needed an extra hand setting up the studio for a photoshoot, he was there to help. I can always count on him to be my second set of eyes when I need an opinion on a photo edit. I would also like to recognize my parents because they gifted me my first camera that started this business. My mom and dad told me I am capable of doing anything I set my mind to. I still carry their love and encouragement with me to this day.
