We had the good fortune of connecting with David Easton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, why did you pursue a creative career?
From an early age, music and the arts have profoundly shaped my life. Learning various instruments and participating in musical theater during high school allowed me to express myself authentically. Being on stage or engaging in creative activities has always felt natural to me. This deep connection to the arts inspired me to establish The Lion’s Den, a creative hub in Atlanta dedicated to fostering artistic expression and community engagement. Through this platform, I aim to provide others with the same sense of belonging and fulfillment that the arts have given me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At The Lion’s Den, we pride ourselves on being more than just an entertainment venue; we’re a vibrant community hub where creativity thrives. Our mission is to provide a safe and inspiring space for artists to showcase their talents and for audiences to experience diverse forms of art.

What sets us apart is our commitment to inclusivity and fostering genuine connections among creatives. We curate events that not only entertain but also encourage collaboration and growth within the artistic community. Seeing artists flourish and audiences engage deeply with the performances brings us immense pride.

The journey to establish The Lion’s Den has been filled with challenges, from securing resources to building a supportive network. Overcoming these obstacles required perseverance, adaptability, and a steadfast belief in our vision. We’ve learned the importance of community support and the power of providing a platform for emerging talents.

Through these experiences, we’ve come to understand that the arts are not just about performance but also about connection and shared experiences. We want the world to know that The Lion’s Den is dedicated to enriching the cultural fabric of Atlanta by offering a space where creativity and community converge.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to give a huge shoutout to three incredible mentors who shaped my musical journey: Mr. Perbetsky , Miss Dorsey, and Tom Stroman.

Mr. Proski, my band director since seventh grade, is a phenomenal trumpet player who introduced me to the world of jazz. His guidance opened so many doors for me musically, and his passion for music was truly inspiring.

Miss Dorsey, my first private teacher at Woodwind Studios, gave me the strong foundation I needed as a musician. She helped me master the basics, refine my technique, and develop confidence in my playing.

Tom Stroman from Lebanon Valley College was a major influence on my love for jazz and improvisation. A phenomenal saxophonist, he taught me how to truly feel the music, not just play it. His lessons pushed me to become a better musician and deepened my appreciation for jazz.

Without their mentorship, support, and encouragement, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They helped shape my passion for music and creativity, and for that, I’m forever grateful!
