We had the good fortune of connecting with David Agoha and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I dove into the idea of launching my own business, I was all about bolstering my income streams. The world of fashion, a realm I’ve always been head over heels for, stood out as the perfect avenue. I mean, why not make a splash in something you absolutely adore, right?

Channeling my enthusiasm, I closely followed the footprints of some remarkable personalities in the fashion cosmos. Their artistry and success were like a fuel to my entrepreneurial fire, propelling me forward with unbridled inspiration and zeal!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Business-wise, I think what sets me apart would be the cultural aspect to the approach of curation of products, the import of goods into the US from my home country (Nigeria) is a major big deal I count myself doing in respect to building the economy and providing jobs to individuals back home, I feel like that’s something I’m proud about. I’m most excited about the new collection we are dropping which will come just within the dates of my birthday. I would use it to celebrate.

I have gotten to this stage in business today by doing in-depth research and putting in a lot of work not just on myself but also on everyone who works around me. It was not easy to let some people go because they were underperforming but that’s something I have to do as a leader. There have been a lot of challenges, every day is a challenge for me, mainly because we are sending out packages every day and that can be overwhelming. Through the challenges, I have learned to stay focused, and be resilient on some things, I always make sure quality over time/price or quantity.

My brand portrays a community of bold leaders not afraid to wear colors, are proud of where they come from, they love the beautiful and finer things in life, club members are always on a trip somewhere, they love to travel, and on those trips, they’re probably wearing David Scott. I really love the brand we are building, the community behind is the powerhouse and I feel like in due time, there will be a lot of story to be told.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For my female friends, brunch would be nice, I’m the king of finding amazing brunch spots in the A, and we would definitely have fun catching up and hanging out around the city. For the guy friends, definitely a cuban cigar bar, it’s something I like and I think it’s something they should try out if they haven’t.

Let me drop some gems brunch: Garden Park, Bell Yard, toast on Lenox and thompson hotel rooftop. Dinner: Verdure, Americano and Batsi

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents deserve a lot of credit regarding how I was brought up and the values they bestowed on me.

Together, they orchestrated this marvelous symphony of love, discipline, and downright hilarious family antics that became the soundtrack to my childhood. From teaching me the value of hard work to instilling the importance of kindness, they sculpted the very core of my being. My mom, the ultimate multitasker extraordinaire, with the superpower to whip up the most delicious meals while simultaneously juggling a thousand other things. My dad, the wise sage with a treasure trove of life lessons, always armed with a clever quip or a perfectly timed dad joke.
