We had the good fortune of connecting with Davia Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Davia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting and opening up my boutique Vidia’s Closet was from the unexpected passing of my sister, who I named the boutique after. She was a mega influencer who inspired, motivated, and empowered so many while doing it with style and grace! That’s our mission behind what we do. We not only offer unique authentic fashion finds. Our mission is to makesure that you feel inspired, motivated, and empowered when rocking Vidia’s Closet. Leaving a legacy that son many will remember..

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been an entrepreneur/ managing Cosmetologist for 28 years. I’ve always had a passion for fashion as well, Hair, makeup, and fashion goes hand and hand. Growing up My family would take shopping trips to big cities etc it was something that we look forward to during the summer months. In 2013 my middle sister passed away unexpectedly; she also had a unique eye for fashion. She was an influencer, plus empowered young women within our community. Me being the youngest I would always style everyone’s hair, clothes, and do their make-up. So, I took what I enjoyed doing and I came up with Vidia’s Closet boutique in honor of my sister. 2018 I started selling pieces out of my salon to gain that customer base, At the beginning of 2019, I launched my website, gained more customers-built relationships with vendors outside of the city in different states. I was doing well. September 12, 2020, is when I took a leap of faith and opened up my first brick and motor during the pandemic. A lot of people thought I was crazy, but I trusted God, myself, and my brand! That leap of faith has carried us and continues to carry us. Our Brick and motor, plus our online sells are doing well. So, well that we’re looking to open up our second location coming soon. Boutique address, 27 S. Saint Clair St. Dayton, Ohio 45402 website info,

Well coming from a family full of strong, educated women. That has helped with both the quality and characteristics of my success which has helped me get to where I am today professionally. Number one key is to Always remember to put God first and all that you do, Confidence is a biggie, always be confident in what you do! My 100-year-old granny before she passed would always say. If you’re told no try again. Those no’s make you stronger and that strength will prepare you for your yes. I was always taught to dream big; my mom was a very strong woman so failure has never been an option for us. She was bold and God fearing so she went after whatever she wanted. So, seeing that and modeling that, has helped me with my success.

Running a business, you always face some bumps in the road. It’s just about how you navigate through them. I would say the only challenge that we came across during the pandemic, was supply and demand. We would sale our pieces and then have to wait for more inventory to come in, but building and having a great relationship with your vendors is important they would always make sure we were first on the list when product came in.

I would like the world to know me as a God-fearing wife, mother of 3, managing Cosmetologist of 28 years. Salon owner, boutique owner. I specialize in empowering and motivating women. My mission has always been to not just make them look or feel good on the outside, but the inside as well. I’m known for being a bold influencer with a unique sense of fashion. Of course, I’m most proud of my kids, but I’m most proud of who I’ve become, I beat the odds! I was once a teen mom who was looked down on and some Counted me out but with a praying family look at me now. I’m a successful businesswoman on the rise! What sets me apart from others is me just being my unique, authentic self. Bold that is lol. A trait that I most definitely inherited from my mom. So, I took all of that and this is our mission at Vidia’s Closet “we empower women through fashion by offering unique authentic pieces that not only make them look good but feel good”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I’ll start off by getting them fashion forward ready with some amazing pieces from Vidia’s Closet of course, and depending on what type of food they would want we would grab a bite to eat at either Redlands, Tender Mercy, or Major Leagues sports bar. We would catch a couple of comedy acts at the Green/Funny Bone and maybe a show or two at The Schuster Center. We would close the night out in the Oregon District.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well you know when they say it takes a village that is so true my village consist of so many. So I’ll start off by dedicating this interview to my deceased mom, and grandmother. Two strong God- fearing women that not only told us that with God all things are possible they showed us! There everlasting prayers and showing me how to walk by faith and not by what I see has helped me with my level of success. I’ll also give a huge shoutout to my hubby, kids, my sister and my spritual mom Michelle Potter. They motivate me daily to keep going no matter what my life throws me. Always remember the race isn’t given to the swift it’s given to the one that endures.
