We had the good fortune of connecting with DaSan Onyx Frazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DaSan Onyx, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Unequivocally, I’m most proud of making the decision to attend Morehouse College, graduating cum laude class of 22 and becoming an HBCU ambassador. The experience of brother-hood, academic excellence, and being surrounded by individuals that looked like me without having to sacrifice my culture was life changing. As a humble Morehouse Man, I’m defining myself! I’m blessed to be able to use my voice and write my own story through my passion for acting to encourage and uplift others. My decision to attend an HBCU contributed greatly to my success and I will continue to pay it forward by advocating for youth within my community and being a role model.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My humility and discipline is what sets me apart from others. I take my acting craft very seriously, but yet, I have fun with everything I do. I’m excited to see where my acting career goes, the collaborations and partnerships that I’ve made and the current steps which I’m taking to continue to amplify black excellence. I’m a part of a new show called Black Card and recently just worked on a film called Chidera. I’m looking forward to my future endeavors. As a content creator, I made the choice early in my career to be authentic. There will always be reasons to quit, people that will hate on you, and racial barriers that will be presented daily. The key for me is my faith, drive, and consistency. Along the way, I learned to trust the process, believe what’s for me will find me, and network. I want the world to know I’m a humble, God fearing, black man who’s passionate about my dreams and elevating others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m truly a homebody, but when I do go out, I like to visit The Beverly (owned by a Morehouse Man). Great food, vibe check, and the DJ is always on point. I would have to pull up to Morehouse and show them how lit the AUC is and from there we would slide to The Battery to chill.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Behind every great man there’s a great woman and for me that’s my mom! She’s my MVP managing EVERYTHING for me behind the scenes. To have her support, unconditional love, and friendship is a blessing.
