We had the good fortune of connecting with Darryl Padgett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darryl, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’m really at a point where I’m so confident in what I do, I don’t think about the risk. So I’m comfortable with funding everything I do out of my personal pocket. Last year I took a risk with starting Trap Wing Festival, a mini Wing Festival/Day Party event that showcases some of our popular wing flavors while sticking to a Trap Music Theme. I think we had maybe 75 people come out To the first event but the feed back was amazing. Now we’re traveling all around the country doing Trap Wing Festival Events and every city has been a sold out event.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lit Ass Wings is a Wing Catering Company based in Atlanta,GA. I think what sets us apart from other Wing Businesses in the Atlanta area is that we consistently put out quality food for event, catering, & personal order. We got to where we are today for the simple fact that we become recognizable in Atlanta. Our logo is hard to forget. We also make sure we make stops at all the local radio stations every now in then. Free Wings = Free Radio Promotion which helps a lot. Further more we have a strong celebrity customer base. It’s one thing to be popular on social media, but when people like Megan The Stallion, Nas, Ella Mia, Black Youngsta, The Millennial Tour Artist are coming to you for wings, it gives you that official stamp as a go to place in Atlanta. Getting to this point wasn’t easy at all. It’s a lot of up and downs. But you just have to keep pushing, trust the process and believe that God’s got you. I definitely learned that all business isn’t good business and it’s okay to walk away from money. I just want to world to know that Lit Ass Wings & Trap Wing Festival is coming to a city near you. Just follow us on social media @Lit_Ass_Wings & @TrapWingFestival and stay tuned.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re definitely going to stop by Big Dave’s Cheese Steaks. Magic City Monday’s or Blue Flame on a Tuesday is a must. Plus their food is pretty good so that’s a two for one right there. I’ll definitely have to take them to Chef Kodak’s restaurant Hungry Ghost on Edgewood. They have 2 for $20 Pasta’s on Tuesday’s. Cascade is the move for Sunday night.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my team. Without them, there is no way I would be where I am today. Jessica Chambers @Jiggajaic, DJ Master Toby @DJMasterToby, Kay @Kaydigitalmedia and Mike Baldwin @DopeItsMike_. Together we all put in the work to help expend the Lit Ass Wings brand over the last year.
