We had the good fortune of connecting with Darren + Trinity Cumberbatch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darren + Trinity, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well we really didn’t choose an artistic or creative career per-se. GOD did. He gave us the talent of being creative in all aspects of our lives. And what we mean by that is, not only do we create branding & graphic designs for our clients, but we also record music, paint, gourmet cook etc. So in every aspect of our lives our brains are always working to see how we can create. While most people are fans of other peoples work, we concentrate on how to get those products and ideas to those fans. So in a sense we never get a chance to enjoy the moment because we are on to the next awesome idea. Bummer. Just kidding. We love having a career and the opportunity to bring a clients’ vision to life. The joy on their face is the greatest thank you. Sometimes more than getting paid. Just kidding again.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well our company is called AMD Branding. AMD Branding actually stands for Awesome Ministry Design & Branding. We ended up using the acronym AMD Branding because everyone kept thinking we were a church. Lol. Even though we would cook and feed the homeless every Saturday, we were not a church. But our name comes from the power of GOD that we would see everyday. Every time GOD would do something good in our lives, we would say GOD is awesome. If you ordered a product and it came out perfect, you say awesome. That’s the first part of our name. The second part comes from the definition of the word ministry. Most people associate ministry with the church but in fact everything that we do in life is a ministry. If you love to cook – that’s your ministry. If you love to make clothes – that’s your ministry. We love to design, so that’s our ministry. So when we complete a logo or website, ironically, all clients say awesome. But not because that’s our name, but thats how they feel. So we just put those two together and Awesome Ministry Designs was born. And we think that’s what sets us apart than other branding companies because, even though we have to pay bills, we do it first to make GOD proud of the talent he has given us. But it wasn’t easy. Not at all. Too many downs compared to the ups, but what got us through it was our faith in GOD. We don’t think he would have put us on this path to fail. We wake up everyday with that in mind. It reminds us where we came from. And allows us to give the client more attention than they would get from another company because we know how hard it is to start a company, maintain a company, and ultimately succeed as a company. Our branding work speaks heart & vision for the success of others to succeed in their dreams.

Designing for fortune 500 companies and future fortune 500 companies is a blessing that no one can predict, imagine, or accomplish. Trinity & I have created a business based on raising the bar, expectations, and the sole belief that ” CAN’T DON’T EXIST.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That’s a tough one. It depends on what they’re into. If it’s a hot wing thing, or a rib thing. But downtown for sure to start. Visit Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthplace. Walk around the city and end up at Atlantic Station. From Atlantic Station, probably Little Five Points. But this is Atlanta. No matter where you go, you’re going to see interesting people. All walks of life, culture and food. So the city, Atlantic station, and Little Five Points is a good start. Oh we can’t forget one of the best restaurants in Atlanta – Aria. They food there has no words.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
