We had the good fortune of connecting with CEO Strong and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CEO Strong, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was that I could do it better. Plain and simple. I look for ways to improve on an idea, and put them in motion. When I started doing showcases, I wasn’t the 1st to do it, but I took it up a notch. When I came across Internet Radio, around 2007, I knew I that I could make it my own.
So, even though there was competition, I found a way to give my users a unique experience.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dj G Box and I (CEO Strong) are partners in StrongBox Music Group, LLC. We started our company because we felt that we could make a difference in the music industry. From open mics and showcases, to providing airplay on our radio station for independent artists. What sets us apart from the others is our realness. For example, we won’t keep putting other artists in front of you at our showcase, just because they pay extra. We’re not going to sell you “radio spins”, and put garbage on our radio station, just for a few dollars. Feel me? We have integrity about our business. It gives us pleasure to know that we’ve been able to make a difference.

This Industry is tough! There are so many “players” nowadays, and it’s hard to discern who…..is who they say they are, and who is not. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t believe anything, until you show and prove.

If I had to give one piece of advice for anyone in this business, it would be DOCUMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION! Document everything! No matter how insignificant the matter may seem. You’ll thank me later!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a very simple man, when it comes to entertainment, so food and music is always a great idea. So, for breakfast, I’m going to go to Milk & Honey on the Eastside, in Decatur. Great food! Different. I love the Seafood Hash! Then, I’d hit up all of the historical places that Atlanta has to offer. There is a lot of African-American history here. In the evening, I’d hit up an open mic or showcase. I love yo checkout the independent artists. Right now, The Bonfire & Takeoff Atl is the place to go for that.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank anyone who has ever told me that I could do it. No matter what it was. Those who gave me encouragement. Who had faith in me. However, I wanna give a special shoutout to my partner DJ G Box, and my artist Yn3. They both have more faith in me, than I have in myself, at times.
