We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darius, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Wow, it has changed tremendously. I’m still having problems with balancing work life , believe it or not. I think I’m so caught up in the moment working, perfecting , still being as student to my craft that sometimes I forgot about life. The normal things and most important things, such as family and friends. I’ve missed out on a lot of things trying to reach my goals but also missed out on the love that I need when I’m just going through it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started off as a dancer but always had the creative mindset and leader. What set me apart else from others Is that I take my craft and other things that makes me uncomfortable to learn into a masterpiece. Being a hip hop dancer starting off, training in other genres of dance and then tapping into hbcu style called j sette. I’m most proud of me staying true to myself, at times I went left ,but I always seem to get back on track. Nothing is ever set to be easy and you’re always going to have challenges in life. But it’s your faith and how strong you are to overcome those obstacles. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that every body is not for you or with you. Sometimes the people or circle you start with not going to be the same people or circle you end with if they are meant to be. I want creatives like myself to remain humble, be creative and collab more and recognize each other, so I give and show give D Wright Entertainment for you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooh my, I’m not the best of host when it comes to hosting people, but I can be the life of party sometimes lol when my bestfriends came to town a few years ago, I as excited we all were together again after some of us relocated to different cities. We at a different local spots like Peppermill, went Fremont for drinks, and of course we dance on the strip and at some of the local bars. Most of the Cirque shows and off strips shows are amazing to see. If your ever in town and want to hear and see the best one woman show, go check out Skye Dee Miles, she is a true gem around the city of Las Vegas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh Yes!, it takes a village to raise a child. I’ve got to for sure always give thanks to my support system when I interviewed with you all for the Memphis edition. My family ,grandmother and mom. The organization I started with was called Pheelgood Showtime, under the direction of Howard Pheelgood. Which that organization lead me to meet another organization called “Kaotic” under leadership of Brandon and Mario, where i met the most talented group of dancers who challenged me a lot and played a big role in the confidence I have today!
