We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darius, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say making an impact culturally ! Our nonprofit organization’s (Affect The Culture) mission is to promote positive personal and cultural impact in society through inspiration, social accountability and philanthropy. Our current initiative the “Better Campaign” is an effort to improve our character and combat the growing issue of divisiveness in our society and establish a culture of respect, kindness and benevolence. Treating others the way we treat ourselves is the basic foundation of this campaign; recognizing and acknowledging that we are all interconnected as humans. Even in our differences we can agree to treat each other with respect and dignity. We encourage dialog between people of all perspectives to listen to each other, so that even in disagreement we can get an understanding of each other’s views. We are actually more alike than we are different and if we focus more on our commonalities than our differences we can create a path forward that builds a healthy society.

Our Affect The Culture Clothing slogan “Don’t Just Live, Live to Make an Impact”, implies that we’re not just here to just pay bills and die, each of us has an impact/contribution to make in society. One of the main reasons for the success and existence of our clothing brand is to provide funding for the mission of our nonprofit organization (Affect The Culture), encompassing mission, statement and style.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The path to get where I am today has been filled with many challenges and stumbling blocks. In spite of the challenges it has also been very rewarding to be able to impact the lives of others along the way and see prayers answered. God has been my constant resource for direction, peace, hope, wisdom and inspiration to not give up during the “see nothing days”. I’m talking about the times when I questioned myself, the business, the nonprofit organization and just about anything related to my vision. He would remind me that He had me covered and that it wouldn’t be easy but it would be worth it! I’ve always worked hard and gone the extra mile to do more than what was required. I found out the key is to make yourself valuable, almost indispensable; people will pay for what or who they deem to be valuable. I’m excited about being an agent of change in society and inspiring others to impact the world around them. We see and talk about things that need to be changed and often say “they need to do this or that” but the truth is change actually starts with each of us! If we do nothing, nothing will change! The Affect The Culture brand is about everyone individually and collectively being the catalyst of positive impact in our homes, communities and nation. We believe “Everyone has value, purpose and a mission to accomplish in life”. We challenge people to be an agent of positive change that will uplift, unite and build a productive society. We encourage people to succeed, to thrive, to prosper, but we also emphasize that your success should impact society in a positive way.

I think what sets me apart from most is the fact that I never gave up and I’m crazy enough to believe I can impact the world!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would make sure they came during fall/winter to go to a Falcons/Braves/Hawks game all in the same week. Stop by Ponce City Market, find a couple nice rooftop dining spots, get our cardio on at Stone Mountain and catch Sunday brunch at St.James Live.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to God who put me on this mission! lol! Truly all the credit belongs to God for all that I have achieved. Christ has been the game changer in my life and the key to me finding my purpose and mission, fulfilling my potential and revealing the king in me. The bible has been the road map for my life and the source of wisdom for my family and business. My loving wife for her support; continuing to be my ride or die! And to my family and friends for their encouragement and belief in my vision. Everyone that has volunteered and supported Affect The Culture initiatives and my day one people that heard the me talk about this vision and gave me encouragement were part of the wind that pushed the ship forward.
