Meet Darius L. Tigner-Jackson, PHR: HR Talent Development Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius L. Tigner-Jackson, PHR and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darius L., let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
My loving and spirit filled grandmothers Ms. Gloria Tigner and Ms. Betty Mabry are both my inspirations and heroes. I have seen them both overcome several big and small obstacles. From having breast cancer to having a stroke and surviving them both. They both push me beyond measures daily to become the Renaissance Man they know I am. I enjoy helping others with educational and employment opportunities. Seeing the smiles on the people I serve is rewarding knowing my assistance to them is the greatest asset.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since December 2009, I have been helping individuals with:
1. Career Counseling – Helping individuals with having options and assessing with they have a passion for to direct them in that role for employment.
2. Job Readiness and Interview Skills Training – Ensuring individuals know the importance of a Cover Letter, Resume, and Thank You Letter is when you are in the market for employment.
3. Computer Skills Training – Showing individuals how to utilize the various job boards and how to read the job posting thoroughly to ensure they meet the qualifications and following the directions on how to apply per the hiring manager states.
4. Resume Workshops – I have conducted several Career Workshops at various Atlanta Fulton Public Library’s, that cover an array of topics from the different types of resumes to email etiquette.
5. Job Placement Assistance – Passing job leads off to individuals who meet the qualifications. Numerous staffing agencies send me job leads weekly, which I post them to my social media platforms.

In my role as a Adult Case Manager we help City of Atlanta residents with offering a number of career, education, and training services to help participants prepare for and obtain work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being a native of Atlanta our city is forever evolving with new attractions. Recently, my best friend came into town for Valentine’s Day weekend (February 14, 2021). Friday we stayed in that morning and cooked breakfast, that afternoon we got pampered with haircuts at the barbershop, lunch at Senor Patron in Midtown Atlanta, shopping at Edgewood Shopping Center, and Lastly, family night where we played Charades, Karaoke, just to name a few. Saturday, we get up for breakfast at Rosie’s Cafe there food is amazing. Then off to Ponce City Market Roof Top where you get a beautiful sight of Atlanta, spirit drinks, great food, and a large array of games and shopping to do. Meet up with some friends at Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards great food and drinks, especially the cool pool tables. Lastly, end the evening with a bunch of friends meeting up at Area 4 Restaurant & Lounge great environment of people, foods, drinks and music – great dance floor. Sunday, we took some best friends photos at some of The City of Atlanta historic landmark locations: The Jackson Street Bridge, Millennium Gate Museum – Atlantic Station, and The Krog Street Tunnel. We ate lunch at Hudson Grille where they have a cozy environment, good music, and awesome wings. Ending the evening with movie night in a family member backyard with a great fire pit and s’mores.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First giving thanks to God whom is the head of my life. Second many thanks to both my Mother & Father sides of my dynamic families who are my shoulders to lean on. Lastly, being the only child. I grew up with many cousins my age.
But through it all, I have my best-friends whom I call my siblings:
Whitney Walker- I have known her since the start of our educational path at daycare, we have been in each other’s lives for decades. Same elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and worked one job alike. She embodies compassion and motivation, which has soared our siblingship to date.
Briana Harris- We meet in Middle School and her personality struck my attention. Her gift for caring for others and loyalty exceeds what anyone can ever ask for.
Ornella Miller- We meet at our place of employment at LAZ Parking and her dynamic characteristic style and personality makes her different and special.
Terion Koonce- We meet in Middle School and her knack of laughter and caring for others is amazing.
Gabriel Chambers- We meet in High School, as he was a grade above me. His great sense of humor and the seriousness of business is what made our friendship.
Lardvicka Roberts- We meet through a family member. We both are Aries siblings. She gives her all in helping push me to never give up on myself and my passion for helping others. My spiritual sister rooted in peace, care, and happiness.
