We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius “Ferg” Ferguson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darius “Ferg”, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Sudden Peak came up just by listening to music everyday and wanting to learn more about how I could get a job in this industry. I was green; meaning I didn’t know much about the industry at first. I started to dig deeper when I wanted to see about being in the marketing, advertising space. I began to do a lot of research and I started out by seeing where artist that I like were signed. Based off of that I would look for a job with that label so I could possibly meet them or work on some type of project for them.

The first job I applied to was with Universal to be apart of there marketing team but I was denied but I didn’t let that stop me. I applied for more positions with different labels but kept getting turned down. Around this time one of my good friends J Shep was working with K Camp and Interscope Records as a road manager for K Camp and they had this big campaign called Werk. I played a small part and he ended up teaching me a lot about the industry and that got me into doing more research of the industry as a whole. I started digesting everything there was to know because I needed to know it to help improve my chances on getting a job in this field. Around the year 2015/2016 Shep and the team moved to LA and I was left in Atlanta. This leads to the official formation of Sudden Peak Records! I always had the idea but this was the perfect time to create the company that will change the music industry.

The name “Sudden Peak” actually is the name of a mountain in California but I did not even know that at the time. I decided to name the company Sudden Peak because of the vision I see for the company. We provide something different, an experience here, we give knowledge and last but not least the rise of our artist and creatives will seem “Sudden” but we all put in a lot of hard work to reach our Peak! Which is the highest point of the mountain and we will all get their. I have always valued great music so I asked my at the time coworker who became my friend to became our C.O.O. (Devonne Boler) of the company. It was a lot of push back at first from him but he ended up seeing the vision and we started to formulate a team and we signed our first artist Pete Myers out of West Virgina.

I know we have a long way to go to make Sudden Peak a house hold name but we will definitely be a name in the Media industry to be recognized for a long time to come. The mission is to change the way the music industry is and put the control fully back in the creatives hands. We are on the verge of becoming a media powerhouse just pay attention because we are putting the world on notice!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sudden Peak is a record label, a media consulting company and a media company all in one. We are a leading provider of cutting edge media technologies and services. We offer scalable solutions for companies of all sizes. We were founded with a few key ideas in mind; Create Good Music, Help artist of all genres and fields (Music, Fashion, Theatre, etc) and helping them reach their goals. We offer these services to our clients worldwide. We carefully curate our services by closely listening to our clientele and understanding their expectations with our products and services. We know how to analyze this information and customize our offering to changing market needs.

At Sudden Peak, we believe that our solutions will soon become one of the biggest segments in the industry. We’ve only just started, but we already know that every product and service we build or offer requires hard earned skills, dedication and a daring attitude.

I am mainly proud of the information we share and the many people lives we have helped and changed for the better since our formation. I speak for Sudden Peak when I say we or excited on launching our full scale financial education division. Here artist will learn about how to manage their money, how to invest and show them how to keep track of and build more wealth by diversification.

I got to where I am today just by keeping the faith and believing honestly. One of my ideals is Elon Musk and he talks about handwork and dedication. You have to put in the hours and outwork others and go hard for something you believe in and I truly believe in Sudden Peak! Nothing about this process was easy, I wanted to give up so many times and just hold up the white flag. I thought on multiple occasions that this is over we should just give up but something else and my friends and family told me to keep going..God told me to keep going..so we are still going and I am glad we are! Some of the lessons I learned is to do the research, try to get a mentor f you can, read up and gain knowledge, plan plan plan plan account of things you dont think will happen, actually put the product in play and if you fail go back to the drawing board make your corrections and put it back in motion and never give up. If you believe in it never give up and you will succeed.

I want the world to know that great music and great content still exist! You don’t have to rap or sing about one thing or make movies about one type of story line you can be creative and go outside of the box. We can listen and participate in any genre, any type of movie script whatever it may be, you do not have to do the status qu0 or what’s popular. Be you and that will be enough. Sudden Peak stands for being your best self. Everyone’s Peak is different but we can help you reach it no matter what it is and we know its not the Peak isn’t really Sudden but that’s why we call ourselves Sudden Peak! The sudden is like a play on words. My name is Darius Ferguson and I am the creator and founder of Sudden Peak, I go by the name FERG and my IG is: Builtfergtough (Ford got the slogan from me) Sudden Peak IG: Suddenpeakllc . I am an Atlanta Native and I help display great music all over the world and we are open to help you reach your dream/goals!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting for a week we would have to try out some of my favorite food places. We have to get breakfast of FolkArt (either location), depending on the food they like I’m a pescatarian so we can do lunch at Steam House, El Rays del Taco or Savage Pizza (I know too many food spots) and for dinner we can go to the Optimist for some food and Oysters, we could do Six feet under, Grindhouse( too many places). We definitely have to go to the beltline to walk out a lot of food, get on the margarita bar cart. On Monday hit Monday Night brewery garage, sometime during the week have to go to East Atlanta Village and slide to Hip Hop brewery as well. After hours as a true Atlien we have to hit The Flame(real name Blue Flame) or Magic City (both of these places have good food too). It’s to many places to really name to check out in Atlanta but I promise I will show you around the city and we will have a great time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Sudden Peak would not even have made it into existence without a few of my family members, close friends. I would like to thank my cousin Tony White for making sure I saw this company through the creation period. I also want to thank my best friend Jamie Moss who also kept me motivated to create the company and keep building through the tough times. I have to thank Devonne Boler who has been on this journey with me trying to create this power house and Marcel Devin Myers a.k.a. Pete Myers our first artist who took a chance on us with his career. Jeremy “DJ Scotty Banks” Scott, Adrian “PNut” Steward and Key West. Also thank you Shep for showing me the game, you did not have to but you did. If I am missing anyone I’m sorry but you know I am thankful and lastly I have to thank ATLANTA! There is no better place to have built this company. This is home and I’m really from here, shoutout to all sides but the Eastside the best side #Zone6
