We had the good fortune of connecting with Dari Arrington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dari, how do you think about risk?
When it comes to risk, it’s actually one of my favorite things. It brings a sense of meaning in a way. Taking risk has always been my foundation of success along with me knowing exactly what I want in life. Taking risk has open up many doors for me and the communities I’ve gotten to impact.

Without me taking the risk on my career pursuits there will be no true me. I wouldn’t be able to deliver the development to the youth and or the many dreams/goals I have set out for myself. Always bet on yourself.

For me, the two most important things you can do in life is taking care of your mental health and betting on yourself, As I always say do what you never done to get what you never had.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is Life & Basketball Brand. The brand focuses on delivering inspiration and amplifying voices to those that want the exposure. The best thing is it’s all free! My motto is “Dream Different” we encourage every supporter to challenge their dreams and embrace the struggle and difference in them. This is communicated though the game of basketball.

I believe what sets me apart from others is my unique way to help people feel inspired. My charisma and strong push towards being unconventional and really embracing that underdog mentality. With my brand you see a lot of creative things happening. It’s bigger than basketball.

This all started when I embraced the fact that I wasn’t going to get my life long dream of playing in the NBA. I needed to find a way to fill that void. I always knew I wanted a brand and wanted to serve as a light to others while remaining true to myself. I create Life & Basketball Brand. It tied the thing I love and the thing I am, together.

It wasn’t easy. I didn’t know how this would turn out.. Nor did I have a exact plan. I didn’t think a person could have a brand if they weren’t already established. To add to that, impact in the way I knew I was trying to do. I just kept building towards it and adding and sticking to the things I wanted to see and do.

Today, I have many divisions in my brand that has a specific target audience. There’s something for everyone. Even if you’re not a hooper. It brings me real joy that other brands want to partner with me because of the energy and the impact I make. My hope is to continue impacting more people and gain more supporters.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting we would def eat breakfast/brunch every day at the Atlanta Breakfast Club. Dinner spots would be spots such as Grana, Ponce City Market, Thai in Midtown or Morningside and Buckhead. We’d hit up some BBQ at Fat Matts Rib Shack.

Entertainment would be catching tons of comedy between Midtown and South Atlanta. Got to have the comedy in the mix. Probably check out some history & facts at all the museums.

Time mostly will be spent playing basketball at the local YMCAs across town and outdoor pick up at Piedmont Park.

When it’s time to drink we’d hit up these rooftops such as Whiskey Blue, Sky Lounge and Gypsy Kitchen ATL.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my S/O to all my underdog/overlooked dreamers in the world. They are the fire that keeps me going.
