Meet DaQuan Beck | Radio Host/ Media Correspondent
We had the good fortune of connecting with DaQuan Beck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DaQuan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of the most important factors behind my success and the success of my brand is being persistent. I started back in 2012 when I really did not have the vision of what I wanted to do. I then started doing my research and developing a passion for radio and media. Coming up with a core direction and path for my content has not been easy but being persistent and getting into rooms that most people wouldn’t be able to having 10 years of media experience beyond me couldn’t touch has been the shaping of my media career of success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My media career is very fulfilling. I have been doing radio and media work since 2012 but recently started getting into my career in media within the last year and a half. I started off watching The Breakfast Club and realized that I would love to get paid to talk to celebrities. I have had many ups and downs once starting through internships that didn’t pan out to creating a podcast that didn’t get the attraction that I wanted to finally landing my own show at a new and up and coming radio station Streetz 99.3 in Nashville. With this opportunity it opened up the floodgates to endless media opportunities that I never thought I would have been apart of such as viral interviews with celebrities, festival ls and concert media coverage opportunities. I have hosted many red carpets and have been living out my dream. One thing want the world to know about my current journey is to never give up and to never doubt yourself. The journey may seem long but you can never put a timetable on your passion and career only persistence and determination can get you there.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot in the city are Hawkers which is an Asian street food lounge and restaurant. The duck lo mein is amazing. Minerva is a nice lounge spot on the weekends to get nice drinks and hookah to relax with the social crowd.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this to my daughter Brooklyn who is my why. She keeps me going in this media space and insures me that I have to keep grinding because I want to provide a life for her that I did not have growing up.
