We had the good fortune of connecting with Danyelle Latrese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danyelle, what are you inspired by?
One of the main things that inspire me is overcoming obstacles. I grew up around a lot of single mothers that did whatever they needed to do to provide for their families. They inspired me from a young age and gave me the motivation to keep going no matter what is happening in my life. I’ve also gotten lots of inspiration from artists in different domains like Pablo Picasso, Frieda Kahlo, Jhene Aiko, Aaliyah, and Maya Angelou. There’s something very beautiful to me about people putting their pain and passion into something and making it beautiful. These people helped me to realize that I could turn my troubles into something that I could be proud of.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m most proud of my resilience. I’ve been through many things that should have (and almost) made me give up on everything, but I still found something to continue striving for. Getting to where I am now wasn’t easy at all and I’m honestly still not where I want to be, but it’s all been worth it. I’ve learned a lot about myself in the process and met many people who have motivated me along the way. Knowing that I had those people around to help me, makes me want to help other people as well so I’m in the process of getting myself to a place where I can do that in other ways, besides through my book. What I want people to know about my brand and my story is that it’s never too late to get what you want out of life. Prioritize yourself and your mental health, let go of your limiting beliefs and show the world what you’re made of.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t go out very much and when I do, I like to do more creative things. I would recommend a poetry night, a sip and paint, or a museum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few people that deserve recognition in my story. I’d first like to thank my family and friends that have supported me throughout the years. I’d also like to thank my therapists for keeping me motivated and on track in my healing journey. Thank you to anyone that has provided me with any type of support, guidance, and advice through my journey of entrepreneurship.
