We had the good fortune of connecting with Danil Pervukhin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danil, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I was going into my senior year of college, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the film industry after graduation. I was looking for like-minded people, who are striving to take the next steps and create something that would not only financially help our future, but also help ourselves as well as other filmmakers share their stories and passions with the world. Fortunately, I found my two current business partners last year and started ideating and working on our film equipment and studio space rental company. PYX Studios will provide all filmmakers with gear, space, crew, and transportation, to make their process of creating as easy as possible. We are excited to collaborate with any projects, whether it is small-budget narrative short films or anticipated blockbuster features, popular fashion photography or small business commercials, one-day music video shoots or month-long projects.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I come originally from Ukraine, where it is very common to take a more “traditional” path of going for less creative careers such as engineering or medical industries. Similarly, at first, I went to a college back home for electrical engineering. After two years, I decided to drop my studies and move to Atlanta to pursue my career in the film industry. With the current situation going back home, I was very passionate about relating my projects to Ukrainian culture, and have recently directed a short film “Glory To The Nation”, inspired by the events in Ukraine. I have learned that it is important to have a purpose behind every project you do. PYX Studios has become a venture I feel very passionate about. Our company is eager to help the growing community of filmmakers in Atlanta. We have learned the importance of having a group of like-minded people and are excited to create a family not only inside of the company, but include our customers and help them collaborate with each other.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We recommend checking out famous areas such as Ponce City Market or Little Five Points to get a taste of Atlanta. there is a lot of nightlife in areas like Westside Village with a lot of good food and interesting bars. But most of all we enjoy spending time outdoors, so we would recommend checking out some of the short picturesque trails available throughout the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was very inspired by like-minded filmmakers from SCAD, as well as the professors. But mostly I am grateful for my business partners, Ethan Becker and Hans Kenemer. Both of them have not only been my close friends but also have shown an incredible amount of support and passion towards creating a business together and I am very lucky to get to work side by side with them every day.
