We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, how do you think about risk?
When I think about risk, I think about change. I say this because a lot of the time risks can be scary, but despite that they can also open doors to a life of countless possibilities. I strongly believe that risks are simply decisions that every successful individual has to make and or take in order to reach their goals.

I can admit that taking risks has played a big role in my life and my career, especially because they have challenged me as a person to either try something new or to step out of my comfort zone. Growing up, my dad has always told me that I am capable of doing anything as long as I put my mind to it, and with that being said, I like to perceive every risk that I have taken thus far along my life as the first few steps towards my success. For instance, I used to be very self conscious when I was younger and would have never thought that I would be in the position that I am today; that being an aspiring model, a young entrepreneur, and a successful student. As I keep progressing each day, I like to look back and use my past decisions as my motivation to keep striving and taking risks, despite how scary they may seem in the moment.

If you never take risks, you will never know what opportunities are out there waiting for you. Lord knows, maybe that one decision you make or step you choose to take, can change your life for the better. Stay Blessed!!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I reflect on myself as a model and a public figure, I see a young woman who is limitless when it comes to self expression. I say this because most people subject themselves to being one thing or having one specific niche, whereas I on the other hand, honestly want to do it all and can! I simply believe that is what makes me different. Ever since I was young I have always worked to be great at everything I have set my heart on, and now that I am modeling, I am doing just that. For instance, I don’t have just one certain look. In all honesty, I sort of just dived into just about every genre of modeling there is; that being runway, fitness, swimsuit, and print modeling.

Now I wouldn’t consider myself to be a professional model just yet, simply because I always see room for growth, but I can say that I have worked hard to become more confident in my own skin. I wouldn’t say the process was exactly easy considering it definitely challenged me in certain areas, but it was very beneficial. One of the biggest lessons that modeling has taught me is that vulnerability is your biggest weapon. I say this because the best photos tend to be of those when the the model’s emotions are connected through the lens of the camera. I remember thinking that modeling was more so focused on specific poses a model makes, when in reality, it is through their expressions.

One thing that I want the world to know about me as a model would be that I am authentic, one of a kind. I want people to be able to look at me and be inspired by my diversity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well because I currently reside in the state of North Carolina, one of my favorite cities to visit would be Charlotte because I feel that it is one of the the most lively cities around and has the best places to eat or try new foods. A lot of my friends who have taken trips with me to the city know that one of my favorite spots to eat is a little spot uptown, called “Caswell Station”. This little restaurant is my favorites because it gives off a homely vibe and offers some of the best choices of food, my favorite being the “Neighborhood Grilled Cheese”.

Aside from this city having good food options, Charlotte also has many hidden gems that are perfect for taking pictures, which is another hobby I like to engage in with my friends during my free time, especially being a public figure. For instance, I like to go downtown Charlotte, outside of the baseball stadium because it offers a great view of all the tall blue buildings and lofts.

Another fun activity that I would engage in with my friends is stopping at each of the malls that Charlotte has to offer. I say this because shopping allows me the opportunity to express my diverse fashion sense with the world. Me personally, I feel that Charlotte has some of the best spots for shopping in the state of North Carolina.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As I reflect on my each of my successes throughout these past few years, I can say that numerous people have had an impact on my journey. For starters I would like to take the time to dedicate my shoutout to God and thank Him for allowing me to make it this far in life and hopefully farther during the years to come, considering the fact that I know that all things in life are possible with Him on my side. I also want to thank my parents for pushing me at a young age to chase my dreams and never steer away from the things that I am passionate about in life. I believe that without them having created such a strong foundation for me at a young age, I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am in life today.

Another group of people that I would like to dedicate my shoutout to would be my close friends and my modeling family in the Legacy Modeling Agency. I want to thank each and everyone of these people because they have pushed me beyond measures to get to where I am.

Last but not least, one person that I personally want to thank is one of my closest friends, Imani Boone, because she has definitely played a big impact on my life when it comes to the start my modeling journey. I remember when she first told me, “Dani you’ve got the perfect figure to model”, and invited me to my first photoshoot, in which at the time I remember thinking “this girl is crazy”. But hey, here I am today doing the very thing that I would’ve never imagined. Imani has always encouraged me to embrace myself in all aspects, as well as introduced me to new settings in the modeling industry and because of her, I truly believe that Strong Women support other Strong Women!
